The mute is not the massive problem, that they had no idea this feature is important is the problem. I don't think they have any idea what the traditional MPC work is and why it is so popular.

But they did know it was important that's why they never took it out mutes, they just didn't put it in the beta, but before that info got told to more YT dudes, it got blown up more then it needed. The only main thing that's not on MPC3 is different programs on the same track across seqs. Even with that it seems like only a small group that's making a lot of noise about it. Most seem like they prefer the new OS or were already using 1 program per track, so maybe Akai is fine with leaving that small group behind in favor of the lager group of new/younger users that's more than likely to like 3.0 & buy plugins.

At the end of the day, users need to wait for the public beta to see what's going on, while keeping in mind that even that public beta OS isn't the official OS.

No, I'm not. I'm saying that for me a full DAW is better at some things - editing, arranging, mixing, polishing. But in general worse at others - jamming, pretty much. And that as far as I can see it given the limitations and UX that inevitably come with standalone hardware that yr DAWless DAW is always going to be a worse experience for the former than just using a computer. Unless it gets to the point of attaching a 19" monitor, mouse and keyboard, at which point what's the difference from just using a computer?

This is a subjective opinion through, if that wasn't obvious. But it seems like you're hearing a bunch of canned "options paralysis" internet opinions that I'm not in any way saying nor do I hold. Options are good imho, you can always choose to just use the ones that work for you ... unless they get removed. Also you must've missed the part where I said I lean towards Logic over Ableton for arranging tracks started on the Push. Hope that clears it up.

My point is you mentioned Live first, and it's very obviously the worst choice for editing, arranging, mixing, polishing, I've used Live for decades now and honestly only half or less of the songs I've done in Live stay there for the tasks you mention, arrangement maybe, because Logic, Reaper, DP etc. are better at those tasks.

Same thing applies to your take that Push 3 is better than the MPC, not if you care about arranging, or time signatures, or anything like a full featured experience. Push 3 in controller mode with a computer and Live is a more advanced experience but it goes back to your assertion that coming up with parts and enjoying the experience is easier with a stand alone. This begs the question since you think Push 3 stand alone shits on the MPC, why are you here? if all you need are some great instruments and the ability to create scenes for Live etc. then yeah Push 3 is for you.

Hi not sure if this is obvious but can each sequence still have its own tempo and bpm like mpc 2?

Your point is not a good one and you should not be doubling down on it.
machinesworking wrote:Same thing applies to your take that Push 3 is better than the MPC ...

Specifically clarified that this was not what I was saying. Reading comprehension issues aside it's clear that you have no idea what the Push 3 can actually do other than identifying that it's not trying to be a DAWless DAW and concluding it's therefore bad, but whatever. And obviously liking the Push and using it as a point of comparison disqualifies me from having a take on the direction Akai are taking on the MPC.

But look, I get it. 3.0 is clearly a triumph because you imagine it's going to deliver everything you personally want. The fact that even on spec it's very obviously going to destroy the ways people have used MPCs for decades isn't something you want to hear or consider as a downside.

There's not much more to say at this stage other than wait and see how it pans out. Genuinely, I hope it works out for you the way you seemingly think it will. For me, it's not the end of the world to just skip the "upgrade" if/when I confirm that these changes work as advertised. Will be very interested to see how you're getting on after the beta's out a few months, though.

Theoretically all software released is in Public Beta. That's essentially why we have "Bug Fixes". Public Beta is just a nice way to say "Oh Snap We F*cked these Features Up, Here Let's Fix It Real Quick!" without responsibility of saying "Full Release"

3.0...3.1....3.2....etc

wait a minute. It's called "agile software development".

We are just "reacting faster to market demands".

I know you truly believe that it is an objective fact, but it's not. Full stop. It's literally a subjective opinion.

No, your talking points about Push 3 disqualify you from really enjoying the MPC VS Push 3, like I mention and you ignore. You think because Push 3 has M4L it shits on the MPC, your own words. You also talk about only wanting to be able to come up with phrases or sequences that you then tie together in a DAW, your own words again. So, the song parts of the MPC, arguably the main advantage it has over Push 3, is largely useless to you, again from your own admissions here. Again, why bother with the MPC since you seem to want an instrument that can write phrases, not a full fledged sequencer? You're complaining about the MPC becoming more DAW like but you apparently don't even use it like a full fledged sequencer, so why even use it? Push 3 has M4L, MPE and arguably better stock Suite instruments.

Holy shit, I've deleted my post (and all the related ones) as you lot are ridiculous gossips  - I specifically said I know NOTHING about when the public beta is going to be released, I was just pontificating and hoping that it comes sooner rather than later as this place is getting a bit toxic and snarly.
