I dunno it really depends on whether Akai learned anything from watching what Ableton did. They always have a couple months long "public beta", in the past they went with the consensus, most notably completely blowing up in their face with version 8, even though me and a few other people who had signed up for the public beta were yelling as loud as we could that it was not a stable product, the majority of people were busy praising it. Public betas only work if the company treats it as a test run.

To be fair most companies put out a public beta or even a .0 version well aware they're going to be chasing bugs for a month or so and it will soon be a .01 release.

Oh and Ableton didn't really learn their lesson, v12 has an incomplete online manual with no PDF version 6 months after release.

I really hope this won't be the case for Akai.

Also, most of the influencers are just making low effort videos recycling the same information. Can't believe it took almost a month to hear about the Arp changes

it's called "onion skin tactics" and is used by a lot of folks unfort.

Even the 3.0 YouTube influencer videos seemed to have dried up… but my MPC X has just arrived so there’s that!!

I do my drumming on the LPD8 into Reason. so I'm loving it.

Question do you tune your kick drum (if you sample yourself) to middle C-note on the keyboard. I do these days, so it can match the root note of the cords and bass, and it sounds so sweet. Some say I shouldn't do that, but their not hearing what I'm hearing and clients love it. I go towards the clients. let me know what you think.

Bolo did say in a recent vid that he felt that Akai jumped the gun and announced 3.0 too early he feels the should of waited till spetember/october to announe, as he thinks there are many bugs and issues to iron.

obviously announcing it later when the software is closer to ready for public beta rollout would mean less waiting time for us.

but akai did the same thing with stems the announced early then we had to wait several months before standalone was available, it seems they like to put the hype out there and let anticipation build as their marketing tactic.

While some people say "the wait" is a marketing ploy, I have a hard time understanding that. I mean, the people who are fretting are the ones that already brought at least one MPC standalone product. Little marketing value in promising access to the public beta and keeping people waiting for 1 month+ since they are already customers.

More likely is that we wait this long because the initial feedback was pretty bad as judged by Akai... and so now we wait for a "politically correct public beta release" which caters more to the OG workflow (I know it's a buzzword... ) and tries to minimize bad mouthing for the next buying customers of ... I dunno what new hardware, because the 61 and the 37 pretty much closed the workstation-daw replacement-synth discussion..
I mean from here from the touch-screen era forward, more can only be CPU/RAM upgrades, since the rest is software and upgradable...
