citation/ official source that states akai/inmusic have said they are doing away with time signatures mate.
and if they dont bring it back, that makes things easier for you to decide on what machine to use for your projects going forward, right? certainly you have downgraded back to version 2...

Like I mentioned. They do not have it working in the beta for a reason. That reason could be that it was messing with the new arranger etc. or it could be that they don't see a reason to implement it. There is zero information out there either way. No guarantees. if I wasn't working Monday I would probably try to wrestle an answer out of Akai phone support about it. I sent off emails to two different support lines.

the beta has been out for TWO whole days! if it has been out for a few weeks with several updates and no mention of the time sig being re-added in, i can see your speculation, but its the first public release! you are right its not in there for a reason ( just like mutes and was it keygroups too? im not following this thread closely)!!

lol im sayin', let akai sort things out and give them time before you start posting this kind of speculation. someone can quote you and if enough people quote you, it suddenly becomes a fact.

not tryin' to be disrespectful or argue with you mate.

Force has been unable to implement time signatures for several years since its release. Is there any real chance that MPC3 (essentially Force OS for MPC) could implement time signatures in the coming weeks?

Downgraded back to 2.15. No problems, took about the same time as installing the beta. None of the files I opened while on v3 got messed up, unless I changed something and then saved it. The files I opened that had non-4/4 time sigs (that didn't work right in v3) still work correctly in v2.

I hope there's an easy way to get informed when they do updates to the beta - I'd still like to try it again once they get the bugs worked out (and new fresh set installed).

this isnt an airport, you dont have to announce your departure.

no, of course not everyone.
Just those who were actually using the machines, and fed AKAI by buying plugins and promoting there half baked products in the past may have a word.
Wannabees who never go anywhere and who are never really using the machines for music and just own them for identity and consumer victim reasons can of course keep TFSU, as far as I am concerned.
In which of both categories you fall IDK, and do not care.
I personally am not abondoning the MPC at any rate either, will just keep using 2.x and not buy any further stuff for it. Already spent more than I planned anyways.
The reason why I make this decision public never the less is simple, its the hope the person responsible at AKAI for the fiasko gets fired and the MPC does get improvements and bug fixes.
Cause 2.x could have been improved indeed, and I am a bit dissapointed AKAI is effing with my attention fir a month just to learn it's been disimproved for me. I feel not valued despite I co-financed their existance, and by that that very software development. And since AKAI used mail to grab my attention, I am grabbing forum to respond back.

Sure but you're not paying attention either, I'm not saying it's a permanent change, I'm saying there is no evidence it's not a permanent change. That, is the cause for concern. None of this is any different than when it was announced that track mutes were busted, and after a while Akai finally opened up that they're going to fix it. I don't think for a second that it was priority until they got feedback.

Actually the workaround in Force isn't bad at all, easier than 2.15 in some ways. I mean a consolidated Arrangement with multiple timelines will still look awful but it's do able. full support for actual time signatures in this manor would be optimal.

im not complaining boss. im stating my opinion.

If that's what you want to call it. The people you're talking can make the same argument.

Seems very unlikely. Surely they're going to be dealing with the major bugs first. I think it'll be months/years before time signatures come back. Might be wrong of course.

I don't know, but it seems Akai do have an interest in providing esoteric functions. Clearly the bread and butter functionality is where they'll get there main income from. But the recent discovery that they seem to be planning major changes to the implementation of CV for eurorack. That's a pretty niche section of the userbase. Odd time signatures should be that niche really, but we do call them 'odd' time signatures.

Their priorities will I would have thought be bug fixes, returning functionality from MPC2 that was lost in MPC3 that has stirred up greater reactions, as well as long term development plans that they clearly have set up in the works, then any smart ideas the user base give them. I don't use odd time signatures, but I'd like the option myself.

I'm happy just following things along and jumping onboard when the release is worth it for me. At the moment track mutes is just keeping me waiting, but I'm quite pleased at what has been implemented and coming up. Things not even properly out yet

Not entirely on topic for MPC 3, but in preparation for, and also now on my MPC X version 2... :)

I had considerable down time this last week and spent a large portion of it re-ripping over 300 audio CD's ambience, nature, sound effects, etc. in FLAC format instead of WAV (which I've had since a looong time back). I think it was a bit over 200 GB in total.

I hadn't really used the format much before, but anyways, it cut the CD sample space by about half, give or take, and overall library reduction of about 15-20%, very cool. Moving the stuff around is always time consuming, so now that helps quite a bit.

FLAC may not be as convenient as WAV in terms of using the audio in code, but it's worth it, I think, and I code less nowadays anyhow. I almost wish I would have gone this route a long time ago, but I didn't, so I am extra happy now. ;)

Anyways, does anyone know of a simple (no bloat) trusted application just for converting WAV to FLAC files? I am going for gold now... LOL!

Funny some people in here call 5/4 and 7/4 time signatures "providing esoteric functions".

Esoteric opinions I would say :smh:

The Crates Motel, sound engineer and MPC savant also stated that he misses it, as do I:

"No time signature!

It’s Sunday so it’s my day off. And what do I do in my day off? Work.

Jumping into 3.0 Beta.

The first thing I test:

Change time signature.

????

You can’t.

I write a lot of lofi chill in 5/4 and 7/4.

Not on Beta 3. That’s a pretty big bug.

It’s not even in project defaults anymore.

Tell me I’m missing something pleeeeeeasse!!"

Esoteric
adjective
intended for or likely to be understood by only a small number of people with a specialized knowledge or interest.

4/4 Common time.
2/4, 3/4 and 6/8 are the traditionally more common than 5/4 and 7/8

I'm for odd time signatures, and I may never use them, you are right to demand them, and be upset at not seeing them in MPC. The vast majority of modern music is in 4/4 and the majority of MPC users aren't stepping outside 4/4. So functions like CV and odd time signatures are esoteric functions, especially 5/4 and 7/8.
