Wi-Fi totally stopped working .... won't turn 'on'

And I didn't do any firmware updates. Any ideas?

I'm considering doing a firmware update to see if it repairs this issue. I can still connect via computer mode.

And yes I unplugged it, plugged it back in, turned it off and turned it back on ... :p .... and by wi-fi I mean the akai-force, not my internet. The akai wi-fi functionality seems to have just stopped.

Try to update with a different method & see if that fixes everything. If not, report to Akai.

Did a firmware downgrade and re-upgrade, and no dice.

Going to try a few other options before contacting Akai.

Ok now this is total crap ... since I am not online, the plugins are no longer 'authorized' and are thus totally un-usable offline.

There has to be a patch / hack / fix for this atrocious corporate oversite. What a load of crap.

To rule out that it's not for wifi, can you connect to wifi from somewhere else?

Every single other device on my network is just fine. It's not my wifi, or router, or internet ... it's this machine.

If I knew the akai was essentially a brick without internet connection and network connectivitiy, I wouldn't have bought it.

It does appear that the Mockabad firmware can repair the wifi on my akai, have yet to try that. But that still doesn't address the network issues when I am out performing at venues without wifi. I'm pretty irked at having to setup my phone as a hotspot just to use this.

Somebody at Akai needs to be fired, stat. I went from loving my Akai force to very displeased. I'll make due, it's still a great machine with a lot of utility ... to discover how little utility this thing has w/o connectivity is just horrid design.

Essentially I went from a very pleased customer who would've recommended th Akai Force to anyone ... to a displeased one who will discourage anyone interested from purchasing it, and instead going with Push.

It may not be the same issue, but my Live (mk 1) has never had functioning wifi from new, presumably a hardware fault. It never bothered me originally because it really didn't need to be online.

If I need/want to connect now, I have to use LAN or run my phone into a usb socket. Annoying but it's a workaround. If yours is a hardware failure it might work.

An update for those who may encounter similar issues ....

The wi-fi, and ALL networking, stopped functioning when the Akai lost power when our entire house lost electricity. This included wi-fi, ethernet, bluetooth and midi. This also nuked my plugins.

What happened is that the Emmc was corrupted.

There is a specific Emmc repair tool that did the trick.

With networking re-established, I was able to validate my plugins and they are functional.

And I wanted to test if they would work when the network was off, so I disconnected everything. No wi-fi, no ethernet, no bluetooth ... and the plugins are still activated.

I'm not sure if the Emmc corrupted those files as well. Or if the plugins are on a 'timer'. I've read that the plugins can deactivate after a time, if the Force isn't reconnected.

The biggest frustration for this was the complete lack of documentation or trouble shooting from Akai.

Mad props to the Mockbamod team and contributors for their support and answers.

And yes ... in response to 'Ableton Push costs more' ... cost is irrelevant if you are a live performer who needs reliability. Besides, who purchases this stuff new any ways? There are flawless, nearly unused machines out there for a fraction of the cost. I spent $400 for my Akai.

Mostly, I am thankful my Akai Force is no longer a brick.
