Floppy Disks for MPC 60ii

I just picked up an MPC60ii from my buddy but he didn't have any floppy disks. Anyone recomend a link or the specific type of floppy disk to get / look up? Should I also pick up drum specific floppies for the MPC that would work on the 60?

Pfoe floppy’s,, that’s a loooooong time ago. If I am correct (ive got a mk1 60) it’s using the DD floppy’s. And not the HD floppy’s. That’s making things a bit harder to find as the DD are a fraction older. So it going to be a search on the secondhand markets or luck with a batch of nos.
It’s 2024 at this moment so bear in mind that good DD floppy’s are getting harder to find.

My advice would be to save up for a nice upgrade to a cf-to-scsi upgrade (or even a gotek-floppy emulator) this cost unfortunately a bit of money, but definitely pays you back overtime in ease of workflow, storage space, loading speeds (scsi) wonky floppy’s, etc etc.

yes. since you don't already have any beats or disks of sounds and you are not invested in the floppy media.. i suggest a gotek or similar floppy emulator.

however, I have hundreds of floppies for my 60ii, and maybe half of them are HD 1.44mb disks with the hole taped (which puts the disk into DD mode) with not a single issue.

What I did notice when loading up from floppy’s, was this tape player effect due to the wobble when the floppy’s were spinning. Beautiful effect

lol what? That makes no sense.

I have a Gotek drive in my MPC, which I bought it with already installed. I could never get it to work. It never shows up when I go to the Disk menu, so I just use SCSI. I know SCSI is better but I have read that the 60 will autoload floppy disks when turning the unit on, can anyone verify this? Almost makes me want to just get a floppy drive for it.
