I've never touched the Downgrade button and I've flashed multiple 3.x betas to 2.x and back. Unless they do something to the boot loader or block it in the software itself, you should be able to downgrade/upgrade to anything. I got 2.4 still if you wanna try it, som folks have firmwares even older than that if you really wanna see a painful MPC experience..

hey everyone, i'm quite new to the whole mpc experience. i started messing around with an mpc live2 a while ago and updated to mpc3 recently, which i enjoy a lot more than the previous OS.

but one thing is already bugging me and i can't find an answer using google. how do i change pad colors on drum programs (or other programs for that matter too)? i used to be able to do it in the old software but now i can't find it anymore.

any help would be highly appreciated! thanks :)

I’m sure it’s obvious - but sadly not to me at the moment - can someone direct me to where I can get the q-links to map to the channel mixer page in the beta? I’m on the X and when I’m in the new mixer, the q-links in screen mode remain mapped to the new channel strip on the main page.

(I don’t mean that I’m to assign them myself - I’m assuming it’s somewhere mapped already. The other modes don’t show it up either)

Hey,

As an MPC Studio 2 owner, I've been reading this forum for quite a while. Massive amounts of help. Thanks to all.

What it totally sold me on is the MPC Keys 61, which I received on Saturday. Just unpacked it and it struck me: do I dig straight in with MPC 2 OS or should I just go gung-ho and install MPC 3? Obviously, I'm familiar with 2 in software form but I haven't used it standalone.

Any advice will be gratefully received.

3.0 is not complete, a beta right now. Is that what you want?

I'd stick with v2.15 just now, as it could easily be 2-3 months before v3 is 'release-ready'.

NAAM 2025 is in January, so wouldn't surprise me if Akai are targeting that for the 'official' release.

You could be making music with less hassle in that time, rather than fighting 3's bugs / issues.

.

NAAM is basically not relavent anymore as relates to Akai's product release cycles or anouncements; 2020 was the last time Akai was at NAAM and they was showing the mpc one; but I dont think any of the other products since have been shown at NAAM

True.

'Targeting that timeframe for the official release' would have been better in my previous post after the Key 37 leaked around 'NAAM-time' earlier this year.

I mean if you bought your device for the 3.x experience, you might as well use it, warts and all

Not saying you did (and I wouldn't judge you if you did), but I know how it is sometimes

You could always downgrade, no harm no foul (that I know of)

I wouldn't use it for professional work and I'd be aware that a lot of things are subject to change

I highly doubt there is going to be an official “release” of MPC3. They’ll just eventually remove the beta tag after a couple updates. MPC 2 was technically a beta version when first released but they didn’t advertise it as one. Saying it’s a public beta reduces the backlash of bugs and missing features. That’s it

Thanks for the advice. Maybe I'll stick with 2 for now. The less buggy the better. Time to make music not pull the rest of my hair out.

They just put out an update:
https://www.akaipro.com/mpc-release-notes

I couldn't help but think about what you said when I saw "MPC 3 Firmware Update" at the top of that page. They still refer to this particular update as "Beta 2" but still.
