Track mutes per sequence, yay !

New features

Track Mute Per Sequence

The MPC 3 update introduces a highly requested feature—Track Mute Per Sequence, allowing users to have different tracks muted per sequence for more dynamic and customizable arrangements.

How to Enable Track Mute Per Sequence:

  • Access Track Mute:
  • Navigate to the Track Mute screen.
  • Enable Track Mute State Per Sequence:
  • Tap the settings icon in the top right corner.
  • In the popup menu, turn Track Mute State Per Sequence to On.

This feature allows you to create unique mute setups for each sequence, providing greater flexibility in live performance and arrangement creation. You can now switch between sequences with different muted tracks, enhancing creative control over your music.

Sliced to Audio Track

This MPC 3 update introduces a powerful new feature allowing users to export a Sliced Audio sample directly to an audio track. This feature is designed to maintain the original bar-beat-pulse (BBP) start and length positions of audio regions, making it easier to slice unwarped audio and adjust sequence tempos without altering the audio content within the regions or introducing time stretching artifacts.

How to Use the Sliced to Audio Track Feature on a drum break:

  • Prepare the Drum Break:
In Sample Edit Chop, trim a drum break so it's a whole number of bars in length.
  • Slice the Drum Break:
Use the Threshold or Manual slicing methods to add slices for each drum hit.
  • Convert to Audio Track:
Hold the SHIFT hardware button and press the CONVERT f-key on the TUI.
In the Convert or Assign popup, select Audio Track from Samples in the Convert To field.
  • Assign the Sample:
To assign the sliced audio sample to an existing audio track, untick the Create New Track option.
To preserve the sound of individual drum hits and avoid introducing timestretching artifacts, make sure
  • Warp Enabled is unticked.
  • Set Length:
Adjust the Bars field to match the length of your drum break, then press DO IT.

Result

The sliced audio sample is added to the selected audio track as a series of sliced regions.
You can adjust the sequencer tempo (slow down or speed up) while the drum hits retain their bbp start and length. The audio content inside the regions will adapt in length, allowing tempo changes without introducing artifacts associated with timestretching.

Stem Seperation - Minor algorithm improvements for better audio quality and stem separation.

Note: These improvements result in increased processing time on standalone devices.

Bug Fixes

  • Fixed track/pad mute latency when reading automation or using TC quantize within Track/Pad Mute modes
  • Arpeggiator is now enabled when the Arp button is pressed
  • Can now select Arrangement tab in Main Mode with the Channel Strip panel open
  • Load FX Rack button for Buses in Main Mode now opens correctly first time
  • Sample Edit now opens with the last sample you selected displayed
  • Double tapping full screen faders now resets the value to default
  • AIR Expander is now present
  • Crash no longer occurs when entering banks E-H in Next Sequence mode

Known issues

  • In rare cases, user units will hang during startup following a firmware update. This can be resolved by restarting the unit.
  • Users may need to re-log in to their inMusic accounts when restarting their MPC
  • In Activations a license error can occur which deactivates previously activated plugins
  • Whilst offline, unit startup can take longer to complete
  • Manually logging out of a user’s inMusic account does not always work first time, resolves on the second attempt or after restarting the device
  • Loading an MPC2 project from the Recent field will load an empty project
  • Crash when Exporting Looper to Audio Track after reordering tracks
  • Playback latency when loop brace is set beyond independent track length
  • Sample start and end points are not always retained on saving
  • When recording to a loop that starts beyond the track’s length (when set independently) notes occasionally do not play back at the start of the loop
  • Metronome doesn't sound when set to Mono output
  • Pad Perform has duplicate notes on pads 8 and 9 after loading a project
  • Load to Pool is not working for Splice files on external drives
  • Program Changes with LSB & MSB cause note conflicts
  • No visual feedback of triggered pads on Pad Mute
  • Tempo events cannot have decimals when created in List Edit
  • List Edit transients are not muted at 001:01:000
  • 'Send To' removed from I/O after reordering receiving track
  • In Convert to New Drum Track pop-out the Create Events hit box placement is misaligned
  • Sequence locators display at the nearest bar and not at the set location
  • Track Length setting is fixed in copied sequence after using Copy Sequence
  • PC MSB LSB wrong value when input by the number pad
  • MPC3 Ableton Live Set export is not working correctly

The new "Sliced to Audio Track" seems to function almost the same as the New Drum Track with Create Events.

I find myself creating drum tracks for individual samples. Don't mind it, but when I try use the 'New Track With Events' for convenience with an individual sample (e.g. 1 slice), nothing happens. Not sure if this is a bug or intended behavior.

Root problem is the audio track limit of course but is their a faster way than manually naming, assigning samples and creating events for such tracks?

I couldn't help but think about what you said when I saw "MPC 3 Firmware Update" at the top of that page. They still refer to this particular update as "Beta 2" but still.

What does the actual build number say? While you guys have been playing with the 'public beta' the beta team is already way past you. I wonder where they've got the public one at now.

Damn, it would have been sooo good for the Arranger to be a Song Mode view, where modifications would apply to the relevant sequence. But that ship has sailed - and I understand why it would have been much more work than what we get now, which is nice nevertheless !

If it's the firmware img itself it wont' open on a Mac, just copy to USB stick and load directly within the MPC via preferences. Or download directly from your MPC, it should be detecting an available update.

On the public side? Haven't downloaded yet

public b1 was at x.80 so yeah, if you look at it as a build number not an actual version then it will make sense. :-D

Yeah. We were discussing exactly that: that this 'public beta' stuff is just marketing and what's happening internally is only tangentially related to how it's being presented outside

Gotcha, I don't follow this aspect of things too closely.

Ok thanks did it on the mpc directly, just that I seem to remember running something on my Mac before when I went to 3 in the first place that updated the mpc, all good now thank you

Am I going insane, but have they ignored the midi note off bug??
