they sent me a link.
But they did not fix the midi bug we reported a little above.

I can confirm this after this new BETA 2 update. I also noticed that selecting any of then CUSTOM>EDIT NOTE MAP templates affects the notes triggered when you change back to setting PAD PERFORM to CHROMATIC or NOTES.

I found slight temporary workaround. By default when you start a new project in MPC 3, the CUSTOM>EDIT NOTE MAP is already set to CHROMATIC C-2. Set PAD PERFORM to either CHROMATIC or NOTES, set the SCALE & OCTAVE setting to C1 CHROMATIC and under the BANKS setting, set it to CONTINUOUS instead of Set at Root note. Setting your MIDI Track to send to any of your Drum Tracks should trigger them in order from Pad A1-H16 just as you would if you select the Drum Track.

I’ll report this to Akai ASAP but I see from the Release Notes that there are other bugs of which they are aware of so I’m hoping they know about this too.

It says in the Release Notes that they have removed clips?

Still no time signatures. And not even acknowledging this in the Known Issues list.

I just filled out their new (very long) feature request form - and wrote this -

"Adding new bars in different time signatures to a sequence (I.E. anything besides 4/4) is missing and absolutely needs to be added back in. Imagine that you're a professionally trained, experienced and well regarded chef, and land a job at a top restaraunt, which does well because of your skill, and then for no reason at all that restaraunt owner decides "no more seasoning - salt, pepper, spices of any kind can be used" - would you be happy? I doubt it. Your clientele would be able to eat the food, but probably wouldn't come back. Anyone with broad musical training and experience is missing an essential ingredient that is commonly used in composition and performance. "

I realize quite a few of us can get along with just having 4/4 available - most of the stuff I do works fine that way, but it gets very stifling very fast when I'm trying to figure out how to work a sequence around a 5/4 motive for example.

Are you trying to open the .img file on a Mac? This image is for use on a USB drive. The file to run on a Mac is .app.zip.

Not an insider but this is rumored to already be in the "private" beta build, for what it's worth.

I just switched my Live for a Live II . Had beta 1 on the Live 1 but the Live 2 is still on 2.15.1 and yes, I get the "disk image corrupted" problem, and can't update on the device from 2 to 3. :-( Also didn't keep the .img file from beta 1, so at a bit of a loss.

Update: NM, there's also an 'app.zip' download for Mac, and that works.

Anyone experienced any eye-strain with the new GUI? Started for me the first day I used it. Switched back to 2.15 a couple of days ago and noticed it was much, much easier on the eye. Think those new colours are just too hard in the display against black - would be nice to be able to at least return to the grey background (as with most DAW defaults), and the increased reliance on the screen for access to newer features - and the general sense of clutter particularly on the main page - seems to make greater demand on the eyes… reducing the brightness doesn’t do the trick, it’s more of a contrast issue I think.

I've noticed the text has gotten smaller. As a visually impaired user, one of the most endearing aspects of the modern MPC was how big the text was. I looooved using the MPCX's big, relatively low res screen with the software's massive text. Now the text is smaller with no option to set font size (or contrast, as you said), like a regular Touch User Interface. It's still usable for me but yeah.

There is an option to change track colors and some are not as bright and doesn't create as much contrast against a dark background, so one can make it easier on the eyes. But yes, a black background against vibrant bright colors, can be hard on the eyes. And it would be great if it were possible to change font size, but I imagine that would easily break certain layouts in the TUI.

I see that even though we got back our track mutes per sequence, Akai removed the option still that was under MPC 2 Preferences>Sequencer to enable or disable Instant Track Mutes. So our reverbs or loops still playing will get cut off immediately. I hope they bring that option back.

It may be that having track mutes per sequence was simply whether they were a track attribute or a sequence attribute, whereas whether they are a MIDI mute or an audio mute is a deeper change related to audio tracks having become first class citizens.

Nevertheless, I hope that MIDI tracks regain the ability to MIDI mute rather than instant audio mute.

Yeah, but track mutes per sequence had the option in MPC 2 to instantly cutoff the track like an audio mute (like MPC 3 is doing now) or mute like MIDI mute, as you described, which was the default behavior in MPC 2 when you had Instant Track Mutes unchecked in the Preferences-Sequencer menu. Akai needs to bring that back.
