whats weird about their midi bug is it is not an alsa problem. its not some draw-back of the root implementation of midi within the operating system / kernel. the mpc software is actually just **** up. peoples complaints are just.

Have you also noticed that when connecting to the midi din in, the MPC ignores which ever midi channel you assign to a track, it will play the notes from every midi channel.

I've accepted that it will never be fixed and changed the way I work to have the more constant things (like long synth/strings chords) on the MPC and have the more intricate parts controlled by the Keystep pro on microfreak and iPad insturments. I can get away with controlling 1 instrument on the MPC by routing midi through AUM on the iPad and setting AUM to only send a specific midi channel to the MPC (bluetooth midi).

Have you ever owned any of the older MPC's?
This MIDI Note Off bug is unique to the current gen MPC & Force. I accepted the fact that Akai **** up when making these units. Hopefully MPC3 will be able to fix it.

IIRC, didnt this bug first show up around the time they added the support for USB MIDI/Audio interfaces? I think 2.10 is where it was first noticed? They got something janky going on there for sure, maybe they botched the whole system doing that.

yep, true :worthy:
you can implement that „multiple port per channel workaround” from the other thread natively and create 16 ports at boot time with snd_seq_open(yadayadayada) and snd_seq_create_simple_port(yadayadyada) and it will work just fine :hmmm:
so overall it’s not linux fault

This is with MPC-X firmware 2.9.1

1. When Monitoring is set to OFF, the MPC correctly suppresses "Note On" messages from being retransmit through MIDI, but it fails to suppress the associated "Note Off" messages. If the monitoring mode is set to off, it should ignore note off messages as well. This causes weird issues when operating outboard instruments/synths.

2. When you have two tracks armed to record, and they are set to different MIDI input / output channels, if you hold down a note on one of the devices (PolyEvolver on channel 4 for example), and then play a note on another device (Rev2 on channel 2 for example)... if you release the note on the second instrument played, it is incorrectly sending "Note Off" messages to the instrument that it was played on, plus sending a Note Off to the other device on a separate channel. For some reason when multiple tracks are armed, its ignoring the channel and sending to all those devices. (this may just be an extension of bug #1)

Hello.

I'm on 2.15.1, and the Bug still persists.
It's more than three years now

Well I'm very happy that AKAI finally fixed the "multiple-note-on"-Issue, which rendered the device almost useless and made me stay on 2.10.1 for quite a while (for quite a while!).

Now if anybody of you AKAIans might fix the "multiple-notes-off"-Issue as well, there is a chance I'll be able to use this unit for what I believe it's basic use-case: multichannel midi sequencing.

In my case: live multichannel playing.
(using two "keyboards", one in a kind of split-keyboard setting)

What exactly is the point of having 16 MIDI channels if I can't use them properly?

I'm sorry but this just isn't funny anymore.

Yes, apparently a whole midi will be revamped.
Personally I'm hopingn for some kind of midi tools/plugins/extensions :worthy:
