Hi there!

I recently bought an MPC Live (eBay) and according to the seller it worked flawlessly to him.

I have not gotten any sound at all through the headphone jack or main output 1,2 and I have tried everything. I have chosen 1,2 as main out in the mixer, tried different firmwares, reset the preference, tested different cables, speakers, headphones and so on.

The other channels work fine and I can get a sound from using a soundcard, so I now it works. I am on the verge of giving up since I do not want to pay an additional cost for repair since I just got it. I have heard that it is an easy task to repair the headphone, but if I cannot even get the main out to work I will not risk anything by opening it to try to fix the headphone jack. I´d rather send it back to the seller.

When I have a headphone in I can hear a faint electrical sound from the headphone, so it get some signal, but not enough.

There were already some stock sounds on it when I bought it. I can clearly hear some of the sounds when using speakers/headphones through soundcard and usb. When choosing some example projects I can hear them too. Everything works quite good except for the headphone jack and the main out. :/

if this is your first MPC inspect the back for the volume knobs.. you may have your main turned all the way down. a common mistake for new users.

I am keeping contact with the seller and I have said that I might have to send it back and he tries to help me with instructions about how to connect. He seems legit, but who knows.

How often do 1/4" break? The headphone jack breaks on many mpcs, but the larger jacks...? To me it seems like a firmware malfunction, but I have tried two different firmwares and it still does not work.

stop wasting your time. the seller has a cut off time before you cant return it. there is no way the seller did NOT know this was INOP, and for some reason if the seller does say they did not know, that could mean there may be other potential issues under the hood the seller "may not know".

how often do these things break? who knows! there's thousands of these mpc units out in the world. things break -- does not mean anything in your case. ive had every version of these new mpcs to come from inmusic and never had an issue with them. nothing ever broke.
the unit is NOT flawless -- return it and moveon.org. i understand you think you may have found a bargain/good deal here, but there will be other good /better deals. toss this one back in the water.

Even if the unit did work for the seller it doesn't change the fact that it arrived with the described issue, thus it's broken and should have been returned.
Save yourself the headache.
