Hi,

I just updated my Beta to the latest version today, and I have the following bug report:

Equipment: Akai MPC Key 61.
MPC version: 3.4.0.105 - Surface version: 1.39
Project: 4 bars, Default loaded new project kit + 1 extra track.
No of tracks used: 5 - all internal.
Midi: No

Function: Mute tracks
Error description: Double registers mute presses.

When playing back the 4 back track/sequence going to the mute section, using either the touch screen mute or pads, muting will result in an Unmute/Mute (like a double press) even by pressing mute just once.

Observations: Long term testing indicates that this only happens on loop. It does not happen during the song playback, but once you tap mute when it's about to loop back to start - the "double click/double register mute" will happen.
Retraceable: Yes - every time.

Project saved, MPC restarted, loaded project, same error.

I am still a bit lost with this new organization... Can anyone shed some light on this?

I think of Sequences as individual sections of a song - Intro, Chorus, Verse, etc...

So you could work with them in that way & have multiple sequences in your song.

Or you could ignore them & have your whole song in a single sequence.

There's no right or wrong way, just whatever way you prefer to work.

This is a good way to think of sequences. Each has the same amount of tracks & the names of tracks across seqs can be the same, but & this is key, the MIDI data on each track is independent & can be different so you can have variations of patterns.

The thing that sucks about this is if you have duplicate tracks anywhere & make a edit to one that you want to apply to all of them, you'll have copy & paste those changes to all of them. Some may be on same seq & or on multiple seqs. If you don't make a lot of tracks & or seqs, this may not that bad to keep track of, but for me & other it can drive you insane & be a huge workflow killer. The Force works the same way but it way faster to copy & paste clips because of the dedicated copy & delete buttons while using the clip-matrix.

Here an basic video I made showing how fast the Force can be:

You can somewhat emulate the MPC sequencer on the Force:

The MPC or the Force are great for composing music. The one that works better you depends on your workflow style.

BETA: 3.4 (Latest)

HW: AKAI MPC LIVE 2 RETRO

BUG 1 - Disk Streaming Does NOT Reduce Memory Usage

I followed all the steps in the manual, enabled disk streaming, saved my project to internal SATA SSD, reloaded the project after setting samples to Streaming. None of it worked. No reduction in Memory used.

BUG 2 - Focus Glitches When Editing Start/End/Loop in Track Edit Page.

When using manual touch screen to zoom or edit sample Start/End/Loop points the focus glitches and skitters all over the place.

Purged unused samples ?

I'm not trying to Purge, I'm trying to take advantage of the new Disk Streaming feature.

If I can get this working I can FINALLY start doing a full live set using stems etc. When I first bought my first MPC LIVE waaaaaaay back in 2017 that was my goal. It has been impossible ever since :/

Love my MPC - don't get me wrong - I just really, really, REALLY want to use it to play a FULL SET and not have to load separate projects for each song.

In the Arrange Mode, the Data Dials default selection is BPM. It might just be me, but my instinct is to use the Data Dial to move the Playhead. I haven't been able to find if it possible to assign default selections. I find that I accidentally brush the knob and change the BPM.

Known and recently reported bug - what is actually happening is that pitch bend is initially recorded, but then it is overwritten (i.e. deleted) during the next overdub pass. Workaround: if you press STOP before it the end of the initial 'record' loop your pitch bends will be kept.

When switching a sample from RAM to disk, doesn't its RAM copy remain until purged - even if it is henceforth streamed from disk reads ?

That's not it works on the Force. It's removed from RAM once it streams from disk. The MPC may be different, But I haven't hear that.

I've have not seen this issue. I just re-tested in beta 3 and a project taking around 18% memory uses 6% memory after moving all samples to disk streamed.

Procedure:

1. Go to MENU > PROJECT
2. Assign all samples to streaming
3. Save project
4. re-load project

I got an error in the middle of a project while trying to sample on my Key 61 and it looks like my internal SSD was wiped. I never use it for anything except storing temp files like samples (I have an external SSD I save my projects to) but it got wiped after updating to 3.4.
