Hi all, first post and very new to the MPC sampling world.
I've mainly played metal/industrial music but getting more and more into sampling and trip pop.

I got a MPC1000 for free but after hooking it up, I've noticed it needs some replacement parts which I'm happy to replace myself but also considering the pad and JJOS upgrade which will run me just shy of $300.

Is it worth to do these additional upgrades to the MPC1000 or get the MPC Live (either version)?

Thanks in advance

The MPC live 1 can be had for about $400 used. The big screen doesnt impress me and the portable battery seems more like a gimmick than useful.

I prefer the MPC 1000 with upgraded pads and JJOS2xl. That's because i like the compact size, the workflow, the operating system, the sequencer. The green screen is probably what i like the least but you can get custom colored ones later or a larger one for about $200.

In MPC 1000 I use bitgrunger FX on mpc1000 turned down to lowest setting and run most samples through this bus. The sample bitrate converstion in Trim mode can dirty up drums or cause lofi. But i use outboard FX to dirty up drums or samples so i can make the MPC 1000 sound almost like SP or old school sampler. Feed FX1 into FX2 to get extra grime.

You can hear my beats at my links in my sig for examples how the MPC 1000 can sound.

Thanks a ton for this information! Really appreciate you outlining some of this for me.
I think I may still get my hands on the MPC Live just for not having to use a computer for connecting my controller.

But all the other information is super helpful. Cant wait to try it out and listen to your examples.
