MPC PROJECT FAILED TO LOAD

Hi all,

I just bought the Key 61. Everything was going great until I tried loading a project I created in Standalone into the MPC VST Software. I get "MPC Project Failed To Load." I have tried different projects, new projects, old projects, and a test project. I have also tried saving and creating a copy, putting that on an SD, loading it on my computer, and dragging the project file to the VST. The file acts like it's almost done loading, and then I get "MPC Project Failed To Load."

I have installed the latest software and firmware. I have researched for hours online and can't find anyone with the same issue.

If I can't load beats into Abelton via the VST, this MPC won't work in my workflow. I would hate to take it back because of a software issue.

Any help would be appreciated!

I have the Key 37, but I am sure that doesn't matter, as this sounds like a software incompatibility issue.

No, I have the new MPC 3 on the MPC and MPC 2.15.1 installed on my computer. I think this is where I am confused, and I can't find a link to download 3.0. I thought something was weird because it's the old 2.0 on my MPC when I go into controller mode.

When I go to my registration page and under registered products, I see:
Firmware
MPC 2.15.1 Firmware Update

Software downloads
IMPORTANT: MPC 2.15.1 Desktop Software
IMPORTANT - DOWNLOAD FIRST inMusic Software Center

If my issue is not having the newest MPC software, could you please send me a link? I don't want to take this back over something so silly.

No, I have the new MPC 3 on the MPC and MPC 2.15.1 installed on my computer

MPC 3 projects are not backward compatible with MPC 2.15, hence the error. If you plan on using the MPC Software you must stick with MPC 2.15.1 in standalone.

MPC 3 is currently only a 'preview beta', it's just for public testing and reporting. Before using it, back up all your projects to keep a pure 2.15 version.

And there is no release date set so far for MPC 3 on desktop. Just a note from Akai that it won't be in 2024.

Can I downgrade to MPC 2.15 on my MPC then?

Yes, Preferences > Downgrade

Or just install 2.15.1 firmware from a USB stick.

does anybody know when the standalone updated 3.4.1 software will be compatible with the actual software.... not sure why they would not do the release together

Hi, I'm getting the same message after I installed the V 10.7.4 on my MPC Live II and created a new project. I work in Logic Pro on a M chip Apple. I build a project stand alone and then import the project into a Logic project. Been doing this for the past 3 years. The error message I get is "Error Loading/Volumes/MPC SSD01/Test 3-4-1 version.xpj" My internal card is called MC SSD01 and the project name is Test 3-4-1. I am able to load older projects but not new ones? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

So if I have a whole bunch of projects saved on an SD card and I would like to open them inside of the MPC software on my computer I would have to be using the 2.51 software of the MPC in standalone to open the projects in the MPC software. What if my projects were saved on the MPC 3.41 software if I downgrade the firmware back to the 2.51 for MPC standalone would I still be able to open those projects if they were created on MPC 3.41 firmware or would I have to wait until AKAI updates the computer software to match the MPC firmware? Also, If I have to wait until the software updates is there another way for me to export the files to a DAW such as Ableton or Pro tools to get the audio from the project and continue the beat inside of the DAW to add plugins or finishing touches?

Once a project is in 3.4 format, there's no easy way to load it into 2.15.1.You could export every track as an XPM file along with a separate MIDI file for the basic events (pattern files are not backward compatible). Some MPC3 stuff will get lost along the way, but you should be able to at least recreate it to a point. Or wait until MPC3 software is released. Or export as audio tracks.

Make sure you "Save AS" any MPC 2 Projects loaded into MPC 3
