I did read the buyers guide. It was the most enlightening info I have found.
Very informative. I think im looking for a upgraded 1000s now. I was about to
buy one for 350$. I am reconsidering now. I am also looking at mpv2500s.
I really want to be able to record live audio, and make loop-able 4 bar phrases.
and combine them with the midi sequencer.

Your buyers guide has me wanting an mpc even more now.

I think you save the most money if you buy one that already has the pad upgrade and JJOS2xl

Pad upgrade is roughly $200 value

JJOS2xl is about $100 value or maybe more now

The rest of the stuff costs less. Ram, buttons, knobs, HD conversion kit, etc.
