When I select events and press duplicate the copies are such aligned that the copy of the first selected event is at the start of the bar following the last selected event.

This is never what I want. So add an extra event at a start of a bar to get the copied events at the place I want them to be. Works fine, but I have to add and afterwards delete an event.

Is there a better way to copy all events within a time range?

But that has the same issue. I have to move the cursor to the exact position in the destination bar. Easy if the first event is fully quantized, very hard if not.

I'm used from Reaper (a DAW) that I can select a bar (or another range) and the insert point is taken from the start of the range, not the start of the first event.

I can easily copy bars in my trusty old MPC 1000 with JJox2xl

Why did you guys upgrade to more expensive modern gear if you can't even copy the damn bars without creating ghost events and other nonsense?

You don't have to create "ghost events". OP just hasn't figured out how to use the machine yet.

Do you come here just to diss people who use the new MPCs?

I was curious to find out what my crusty old ass was missing out on by clinging on to my 20 year old gear. Turns out I'm missing out on big cellphone display touch screen, menu diving, and people struggling to do simple tasks performed on a 30 year old MPC.

It's okay. Talk some shit back. The mpc1000 came with busted pads out of the retail box. LOL And the operating system on the MPC 1000 is so shitty that a former employee had to go rogue and sell custom OS on the black market. I had to spend an extra $300 just to get functionality out of my MPC.

mpc_fan_2022 wrote:"copy events" function from bar A to B to bar C to D should work without hurdle, please describe the exact steps you are taking.

I press the rectangle icon and select events. I press copy, move the playback cursor and press paste.

The new events start at the position of the cursor. With MPC 3.4 they are all now C-2 (MIDI #0) - is this normal?

Anyway, this is all fine and good and works well.

But when my first event is at, say, somewhere in bar 5 / beat 3 at some random tick (nudged or recorded unquantized). How do I move it to bar 17 / beat 3 to the same tick?

I just noted that I could probably look the note up in the MIDI event list and move the cursor by typing in the position. That will do, though it is cumbersome.

The MPC One is my first MPC :)

I hope your old MPCs didn't crash like the MPCs with 2.x. That made me put mine aside for a year. I only picked it up again, because the MPC 3.x made me curious.

I read it, but I probably dismissed it, because it wasn't the way I was hoping for. Sorry.

Something along the lines of the new loop markers in MPC3. Define a range and then copy all (or selected) events within that range.

MPC is so DAW-like that I assumed I must have overlooked the proper way how to do it.

Thank you for trying to help.
