I wanted to know if there is a way to insert a note into the grid mode by hitting a pad if I press the Overdub button or something similar

While recording a sequence, you hit pads and they show up on grid, that’s normal, or is it something else your talking about?

No, Once the sequence has been recorded, if I press the grid mode and I want to add one more note while in the grid mode, placing the cursor in the desired place, in addition to doing it with my finger on the screen, can I do it by hitting the pad? I have tried and no luck

Oh ok, then no, notes are placed when recording, not when the sequencer is just sitting there idle.

Use List edit mode,

line up your location in the pattern where you want the note and then press overdub record button and hit your pad you don’t need the pattern to play as it works as a step recording method,(it will input notes as per your quantize value)and will advance the sequence at that value then simply press stop to switch out of overdub record

You could also try just being in grid mode and see if the notes you play would be recorded in retrospective record

Interesting. Didn't know I could input like that in list edit. Not something I use much other than tracking down rouge automation.

If they can input without the seq running there why didn't they allow it in grid.
Missed that feature after moving from JJOS to mpc2.?

Yes it’s a bit random why they don’t allow step recording like this other than in list mode.

It’s something I use a lot on the 4000 as this allows step recording in all the other modes not just list.
