I want to assign an LFO to a CV output. However…

There are only 4 targets for CV in Melodic mode.

Pitch, Gate, Mod Wheel and Velocity. These all have a minimum of 0V and a maximum of 5V.

Is there any way to have a minimum of -5V and a maximum of +5V?

Maybe 0V patched to 64 on the Mod Wheel?

My goal is to trigger an LFO filter sweep that rises and falls above a cutoff point, preferably in time with the sequencer.

I have the MPC X SE running mpc3.4.0.015

Which LFO? AFAIK a CV track has no LFO.

You can set CV values also either as automation or in the step sequencer. You can use the presets of the latter to get something like a limited set of LFO forms.

I assume 0V to +5V is a hardware restriction, but I couldn't find it in the manual.

So you need an offset and attenuverter to create a bipolar CV.

Many thanks for the replies, at least now I know the limitations I can come up with other solutions.

I understand why 0-5V may be a hardware limitation, but a Mod Wheel has a centre indent of 0V and a +/- of 2.5V, of course the MPC X doesn’t have a Mod Wheel.

But neither does it have a pitch bend and that is an adressable CV function.

Using the Step Seq is useful for creating LFO shapes, but again that only ranges from 0-5V, there appears to be no way of assigning a 0V value to a value of 64.

I really hope there’s a software solution to this oversight.

Nope. You need to get a Doepfer A-183-2, Dreadbox Utopia or a used Erica Synth PICO Scale (discontinued). Or anything that creates a negative offset voltage and mixes CV signals.

Most MIDI to CV converters and controllers with CV output I know are only capable of positive voltage. Maybe it is harder to build something that centers stable on 0V.

The MUC-810 is really hard core engineering. No design thrills :)

Both products cost more than the half of an MPC One though. I assumed the OP was looking for something cheaper.

Didn't know that the shuttle control is such a beast.
