MPC3 Ableton Live Set Export just doesn't work?

Hey there, so I've been digging MPC3 beta for a little while now, enough to want to finish off some tracks. I was psyched for the Ableton Live Set export option but I can't open the .als file in Ableton Live.

So off I go to the forums and the MPC Bug Reports form and lo and behold the last known issue is "MPC3 Ableton Live Set export is not working correctly"...

So I guess the question is, does not working correctly just mean not working at all? Did it ever work? Did it work on MPC2? Any other neat tips and tricks to export tracks out to a DAW?

I like the MPC workflow for creating material but can't see it as any serious option for actually arranging and mixing a track.

The fact that it's listed on the MPC3 beta form would suggest it is something they are actively wanting to fix, so you'll have to wait and see what comes in the next update(s). You can downgrade to 2.15.1 to test the Ableton export functionality in there, but any MPC3 projects will not work in 2.15.1 (but this is why Akai only recommend using 3.4 for testing and bug reporting projects rather than more serious stuff).

From a sequence hit 'Save > audio mixdown > separate tracks' and import the individual audio track 'multis' into Ableton. You might need to explode some stuff separately within the sequence first (MAIN >track pencil > explode track), and you can also explode a DRUM track into 'stems' (multis) via 'save > drum pads as stems'. I believe this feature is still a bit buggy though. On the save screen you can also export tracks a MIDI.

Nice, this all makes sense and are some workable alternatives.

Just downloaded 3.4.1 and it's still broken for me, anyone else?

It is stated as a "known bug". Akai rushed that thing out the door for NAMM. MPC3 is still in an unfinished state and they shouldn't have removed the Beta tag yet.

Its actually works for me, but not all projects. I have about 20 projects created since the first 3.x beta. 5 of them do not export the audio when doing the live set save option. Those projects also have issues with exporting all tracks.

The crazy thing is I committed to Ableton 12 even tho I'm a Logic power user and have the MIDI Efx window right over the AU Instrument Instead of learning to route in Live. That and the beautiful GUI I turned the page from after I been with Emagic Logic since it was on Windows PC. Logic WILL NOT slave to external MIDI input.

My MPC X Standalone mode loves to slave Ableton and I'm exporting the trackout then putting the X in Desktop mode to drag and drop from the MPC SSD once a day. Now that the MPC 3.4 "Ableton Live Set Export" is broken I can see me going back to Standalone mode to fix a snare or 5 other things so that's too many HD ejections
