Akai is back at NAMM this year

Well, the mpc chipset is what, 9 years old by now ? A Live mkIII is definitely overdue. And it will be full of TOUCHSTRIPS !! Up the Wazoo. God, I hate touchstrips.

Still no crashes here on MPC 3 Beta on my MPC Live II. Only using new projects not converting any older ones.

Have to laugh at how violently aggressive/passionate some of the MPC heads are; to actually threaten an Akai employee is madness, unacceptable but funny nonethless.

Thats usually what Thomann does if something is out of stock. They have a weird way of letting you know, that happens to look like products are discontinued. Happens every time something runs out there.

Roger made a video using a MPC ONE that Akai sent him last year & he liked it & gave Akai respect for how they been handling the MPC legacy.

In short, they made up last year. Where ya been at?

On a related note.....what's all these rumours about NI instruments being available on standalone. Andy Mac doing the rounds again visiting producers studios readying for something big.

Now THAT I would love to see. Let's see how quickly a simple Reaktor ensemble can take out the whole MPC..

I see Moog, Numark, RANE, M-audio, Denon, etc but Akai is the top of the list beneath In Music.

So probably they will just be showing the same beta software, or maybe the latest version of the beta software, I doubt any new hardware would be on display.

Yup Roger is confirmed to be doing a workshop with Akai as seen on the Akai instagram.

That makes me think that we could see an MPC One+ with a retro /classic colour scheme and a Roger Linn signature on it to pay tribute.

Upon further reflection; this looks major for Akai given the following:

1. 3.0 is in beta
2. Roger Linn is present
3. Akai has not been to NAMM in at least 5 years
4. Multiple celebs at the Akai stand
5. A formal schedule/presentation

I can see them showing the new MPC X protoype; hence Roger Linn will be there to pass the torch/give it his blessing.

Very interesting development; my popcorn is at the ready for next week.

It makes sense, after all those years, more or less, Mpc is becoming stable and Air opened a lot of potential for the future.
We could say that now we can see where MPC is going to.
So only now Akai can give Roger Linn an evoluted MPC without feeling shame.
I think Akai reached the first step of development with 2.15, it's what a 1000$ device should be.
Now a rollercoaster will start again with 3, but I think Akai is doing it right.
Hopefully Linn will solve all midi issues, or at least give some good suggestion for that.
Then all the line will be upgraded to 4gb Ram, I don't think they will show that on Namm but maybe a prototype of a new X as you said.

I think Akai should eliminate any old bugs before making a new gen device, especially if Linn is involved. Obviously there's something wrong with how they coded the thing for them to not to be able to solve the same bugs years later.

Roger could help them add MPE & the RAM should be upgradeable from 2GB to 8GB & sold at different prices. Seeing that the Move has 32 pads & MPE is being more popular, I think one of the new MPCs with more pads is a logical step forward.

I agree. Things are kind of a mess right now. If anything maybe they will drop the full 3 with all bugs and features FIXED and ready...
