And anyway, MPC could never handle those hundreds of samples, they could only make a cut version and so it would become not good as the original.
Moogerfooger fx would add so much to MPC, a luxury LP filter, a luxury analog delay (finally), MURF, a super Phaser, and more. It would give that touch of gritty analogish sound that Air (and NI) are not capable of.
But ok, if they put both, we are both happy.
Deal.

With disk streaming MPC can indeed handle those 100s of samples; as they would not need to be loaded into RAM.

Uhm, yes, but I think that Kontakt also needs a lot of cpu power.
And well, I am not sure disk streaming on MPC is something that can work flawlessly with many many samples.
I watched on Kontakt libraries folders, some instruments are made of many layers, recorded with more mics (even 4) and more dynamics, they have huge sample folders.
And again, do we really need that on MPC?
My answer is no, as I have been using Reaktor and Kontakt many years and now, as I stopped using computer softwares, I really don't miss them.
It would make sense if they put Kontakt on a small box with a good chip and a lot of Ram, so it would work as a sort of acoustic instruments player.
But I don't use that sounds anymore, that's why I jumped to Mpc.
I would rather add more manipulating features, grit fx, granular synths and the sort.
But ok, anyone has different needs.

I would hope not rompler plugins from NI especially if you already own the play series instruments like myself.. it would make sense they allow direct connection with MPC'S .. this would require drivers being created to work with Kontakt & komplete kontrol software.. hell maybe maschine 3 software.. this be a surprise but likely to happen this week at namm..
By Straker Mon Jan 20, 2025 4:55 pm
If the news at Namm will be a buggy MPC3 and direct connection with NI stuff, I will be very disappointed about the direction Akai is taking.
But I still don't think it will be this.
We are all speculating about a picture on internet, isn't it?

I'd be real happy if I could use NI/Arturia/Roland/Korg plugins on the Force / MPC. The reality is the current hardware just won't cut it though.

Just give us 4GB of RAM, fix the Midi note off bug, follow actions on the Force and stop making devices in bleeding haemaroid red colours and we'd all be good AKAI. Don't overthink it ma dudes.

Moogerfooger plugins?
I'd love to see them on Mpc.
Much more then NI stuff, I don't understand all this Hype about NI, I never liked their products, cpu heavy as hell, and too clean and digital sounding.
Do we really need NI stuff on MPC?
I would rather go for Moogerfooger excellent analog sounding plugins.

I agree with you, but one point is well off. Moog plugins are going to be heavy on the CPU. What we've seen from Akai so far looks like Play series ROMpler libraries, these are already cut down from Kontakt to be lower CPU hits, and could be taken further. Kontakt might be a pig, but so far it's been Play instruments we're seeing, and that's a matter of translating libraries over, we got more layers in the sampler in MPC3 so this is likely the case. We won't see Reaktor or Massive X, and especially not Kontact IMO.

I don't particularly get it, I would thing NI would want to stick to their Maschine+ and InMusic to Air, Sonnex and Moog for plugins? The solid good part if this is happening is that InMusic/Akai are open to libraries and possibly even plugins coming in from other companies. So maybe U-He, Waldorf etc. plugins for standalone in the future? and maybe third party developers of Kontakt libraries port their simpler software over? Most drum libraries could be done for instance.

Firmware is in beta and of course there will be bugs.. I'm not exactly happy about NI /akai collab only unless it's direct connection to there software such as kontakt.. I would love to sell my kontrol mk3 keyboard it was bad purchase anyway :-D

So we gonna have Kontakt libraries optimized, meaning cut versions, for MPC?
I also don't get it at all, if it's gonna be this.
I mean, if I need this kind of stuff, I use a computer which has much more power and much less limitations.
I also don't get the point of making MPC a daw like box.
For the same price, I get a good computer and audio card and I can also have all crack plugins for free or buy them for discount prices.
I buyed MPC to use it as an instrument, before I was using Ableton but I got bored of how it sounds.
I buyed MPC to get rid of the high tech digital sound of computer softwares.
So this Akai new direction, if it's really that, doesn't make sense to me.
We could have a great instrument by itself, to be played everywhere, I would just improve sample edit and fix midi bugs and then add more manipulation tools, maybe more synths. Moog and Alesis belong to InMusic, they have great effects and synths, why is Akai looking for some useless clean sounding boring digital multisampled NI library?
I really don't get it.

Yeah I don't get it either, but one thing holds true, Play series on the computer are already cut down versions of Kontakt, it's not like you're going to see any audio quality loss or "playability, they're mostly pads and other non expert keyboard player friendly big sounds that I've never used in a song once. Other people love them though, even guys I know that are good keyboard players, because they're all good sounding presets on their own, I just never thought, "I need this huge pad with endless reverb on my song!"

One thing though again it opens up the idea of dedicated libraries being made for the MPC, and maybe in the future plugins like the Moog. Air have done some quality plugins I think, so it's not impossible to see Moogfoogers on the MPC for instance.

It makes "Cents" My man. Companies Joining together make Economical Sense. InMusic is built on joining Companies. Why do you think AIR joined with Akai? Bcz they're good at Sound Design and Effects. Joining with Native Instruments would elevate the Preset Sound Market for Akai....Possibly help them with the Akai Software DAW

Yes ok, personally I really don't need libraries, I need instruments, fx, sample processing.
Again, this ready made preset stuff bores me as hell, that has nothing to do with MPC.
But I am too critical, more amateurish stuff, more customers, more sellings, more resources to invest.
I just hope they don't screw up the Mpc workflow and the legacy sampler structure to accommodate amateurish ready made preset stuff to sell more.
That's my fear.
I don't have much trust in Akai, as things stand, but Air crew is made by good guys, I have trust in them.
So let's see how it develops.

NI is boring, it sounds boring, they have no esperience with analog domain, it's just digital stuff of beginnings of 2000s, sterile, high tech stuff.
Akai has nothing to learn from them.
And if MPC turns into a ready made preset box, I am gonna look for some more serious sampler, that's it.

Because Rocket Network - the "then owner" of Avid (who owned Air Music) was running out of money and Jack O'Donnell came along and made them a fat offer to buy Air Music along with M-Audio.
