I think like a MPC. A program is a tool. If the sculpture don't look right, Don't blame the chisel..

Crap preset machine from NI and expansions from the forest.
Wow.
Some keygroup improvements though, 2 lfo, 2 filters, not bad as a starting point, at least it means they care about keygroups.
And yes, repitch the sample.
Ok.
Good to understand Akai is still moving in two directions, at least.

There is a video, did you see it?
They improved keygroups, now you will have 2 LFO and 2 filters and a blend option between them but it didn't elaborate more.
There is also a new Repitch feature on sample edit which seems to sound good.
I also think they improved WARP.
So, ok, someone is working on keygroups and sample edit, good to know.

There is far more than that in the new Advanced Keygroups.

I mean, I hate to say "I told you so", but - naaaa, actually who am I kidding? I totally enjoy saying that.

No. Which one? There are many videos..
Straker wrote:They improved keygroups, now you will have 2 LFO and 2 filters and a blend option between them but it didn't elaborate more. Are these available for sample based keygroups as well, meaning in addition to the program edit features, or are they just for plugins?

Yeah. Well one would hope

All Keygroups are sample-based, yes? That said, the NI plugins are separate and completely unrelated to the new Advanced Keygroups engine.

Yeah, we finally reached the level of mpc2000, the one released in 1997.
But good, I have the feeling it's a starting point, hopefully.
Do you think I will be able to assign "Repitch" to a qlink and use it in real time?
That would be very welcomed.

The play series stuff is interesting as hopefully it's the beginning of them allowing third parties to develop plugins.
The MPC editions of existing NI sample expansions just adds more noise to the endless sea of construction kit style sample packs out there.

Point is, all the naysayers have been blabbering here that Akai don't care about the sampler in the MPC and have moved on. I've been telling you all that is untrue, and here we have new Advanced Keygroups in MPC 3 - a core sampler feature that has had a complete redesign. This is not trivial - the advanced synthesis available in it is incredible. The modulation matrix alone is worth the price of admission.
