akimov wrote:About the quality of NI soundbanks

The notion of soundbank quality is subjective (even if I too find that all NIs sound the same and break the ears, but that's not the point).
No one is interested anymore, especially as our ears have been sanitized by the times we live in. Few people listen to music for what it sounds like, on a coherent audio system (I'm not even talking about creativity).
On the whole, productions sound the same and are developed to hook the listener for 10 seconds of punchy sound, in a context of loudness war. As a result, sampling one's own acoustic or analog instruments no longer appeals to many people. It's too complicated, too time-consuming, and you still need to own the sources (vinyl records, instruments, etc.).
And we're witnessing the emergence of the magical NI expansion interface, where you can shape your sound with a single finger. One finger compared to all the buttons you have to manipulate to create a sound on a moog. One magic finger compared to the 10 fingers I had to use to learn classical piano for 20 years...
Easy music for everyone. That's the inmusic market.
So, gentlemen, sample, sample and share!

My gosh, that's the manifesto of the death of music.
You wrote it perfectly.
Well done.

Great collaboration prices are cheap and I do like NI expansions so we will see .. wish NI caved in and let the MPC'S have there direct connection communication with kontakt and Komplete Kontrol.. maybe one day

I wonder what the users who were complaining about the sampler functionality think about the amazing keygroup improvements in MPC 3.4.1.

It doesn't work.. it would be great if it actually worked correctly. I guess I expected too much from them.. but the keygroups don't actually change parameters between keygroups like they should making them actually worse then before.

It's sorta funny. I left my MpcX collect dust thinking.. "Well... I will wait for the official release instead of the beta" and now the official release it out, and I'm thinking to myself "If keygroups are F'd, I can't ALS Export, there's hiccups and bugs through out the update, should I just sell the MpcX?"

Starting to feel there entire environment/ecosystem is just trash.
I just don't want to waste my time anymore with it.
I personally really enjoy the SP404mk2 with the S2400. Those two together = a better Mpc minus some quarks like I can't record the pitchbend/modwheels of my hardware synths. But that's about it.

NGL, I sorta hate Akai right now.

What I don't get is the youtubers not reporting on this. One would think people so dependent on followers, who are literally competing on credibility wouldn't risk their reputation by not mentioning major bugs or downright malfunction.

It's the whole "Everybody has got to like me" or "If I speak about something negative, then people are gonna think I'm a hater" or whatever else probably that makes them not address it. It's pathetic. They all just want "Good Vibes Bruhh" Lmao. Gtfoh with that ish.

Just tell us how it is and we happy.
It's like those videos where someone doesn't ever get to the point.
Almost all youtube producers are like this. That's why I do not pay attention to them, only albums that get released. See their stupid cut out face next to some object/heading is just... Basically.. They F'k'n fake @ss fool's or... They just like an old kid... Like the one that lived in their moms basement til they were like 30-40 years old eating hot pockets and drinking sunny-d. Like I don't even know what to tell ya. In the scene I grew up in, the graff scene. ya would of gotten yourself checked in person acting like this ish.

Really sad to see what has happened to hiphop over the last 20 or so years, the music technology industry, and we at this point. We got like a half ass dance music machine hahaha. Shit... Not really... I'm being a d*ck, but still.. It's not great at anything. Its ok, at the things it can do, and at the price point, that's just not logical. They should be doing better. Almost a decade of nonesense...

Honestly. Just fix the damn code Akai.
I could of taught a monkey with down syndrome to have written the code and implemented it buy now.

Just remember the process that made MPC2 a working OS.
It took 7 years, with bad beta testing, broken basic features with every update, fixing, new broken features, basic stuff half working and then working until at the end, after 7 years, Akai sorted out.
It's gonna be the same with MPC3.
Adding that Akai itself understood beta testing not doing great and giving a public beta.
Imagine the mess, the confusion, the mistakes highlighted as bugs and so on.
Then you have to rush all for Namm, for marketing, and you bake a half working weird new program edit to say you are satisfying the legacy users, you know, there is someone like Roger Linn on Namm for them.
Result? The usual Akai mess.
That's why it's a month I am saying, good, I will jump to MPC3 when all will be working fine, which means at least a year.
They will find out a good way to fix the weird things that happen when you change the core structure of MPC to accommodate arrangers and more Daw stuff, when you will have sold enough shitty libraries for the masses and make enough dollars.
Take it or not, that's Akai, it's always been like that, at least in the last 7 years.

And yes, Hip Hop was a strong revolutionary music movement, made by geniuses and aware people, before it was brought into the Industry and turned into a nonsense of moving asses, gold rings, ready made grooves and idiotic lyrics.
That's the target of Akai, remember that.

I understand it takes time to get things right and there will be bugs.. but the very things you are so excited about at namm not working.. like at all.. is just incredibly sad.. I don't think this could happen at all unless literally nobody who was working on this new feature actually tried using more then one keygroup, it it would have been obvious that it can't go out like this. I can't even make fun of them.. it is like making fun of someone who is disabled at this point, it is rude and sad.. better I guess to just realize who they are and move on.
I'm sure as hell not buying any soundpack instruments foolishness from them until they can make keygroups actually work.

Are you saying that the new keygroup editing doesn't work? I'm not sure what you mean.
It works for me.
And with more than one keygroup.
Am I missing something?

I mean - there will always be users who complain and criticize no matter what. The new Advanced Keygroups are a massive improvement over the old IMHO, but they are far from perfect. There will be some growing pains that need to be hashed out in maintenance updates over the year.

Huh? :hmmm: They work. It's a complete redesign from the ground up - it has a massively improved synth engine, and the 32-slot modulation matrix is incredible. What are you trying to do that doesn't work? Looks like TubeDigga can get them to work just fine.

Post a short video clip of your MPC screen cycling through the new type keygroups on the Filter, Envelope or LFO/Mod pages so we can see it changing values per different keygroup.

None of the YouTubers have shown this.
