Writing here and there, I came to the conclusion that the big majority of MPC users are expansions and preset users, just a minority of people prefer to dive into sampler and sampling, build their own sounds and so on.
Or, at least, there is a split between the two kind of users.
And NI has a huge catalogue of libraries, starting from Kontakt and their legacy synths, like Absynth and so on, which is dated and have no future in the computer domain which is already at the next stage of modeling.

lol I told You that few days ago

Ahahah thanks.
Sorry, I need time to understand, I am a human being, I don't have an AI brain yet.

Native employees: 775. what are they all doing.

15 mio / 775 ~= 19 k per employee.

Doesnt look like a profitable business.

I don't feel this is an accurate comparison. While I agree that Native Instruments are probably not doing great from a net revenue perspective, your comparison misses something big - we're not talking about InMusic as a company whole here - we're talking about the net revenue Akai generates by itself. Those numbers are hidden, so it will be impossible to tell how much that part of company draws in. But I am 99% certain that Akai doesn't have hundreds of employees.

Right, but it would be inMusic who might or not buy them, not AKAI I think.
Anyway I doubt these figures are correct, since I cant imagine NI haveing over 700 people. 170 seems more realistic to me.

true story about the 2 types of user thing ...

as for the final release, it's hard to understand how they did _not_even_address_ issues like the time signatures or clips missing...
and all in all the linear editor it's still kind of dumb compared to a DAW (Reaper par ex. for all I care) or even to my old farting MV 8800...

@MPC Tutor, how about consolidating one big thread on the MPC 3 final release... what do you think ?

Time. It really boils down to that. They wanted to create a splash at NAMM instead of wait. Not sure if you saw the release notes, but a fix for the time sig is at least in the cards.

It could done, but, would very possibly take some conversations out of context.

Few Questions and an observations:

Any time frame for MPC Bible 3 release? I'm sure it's on the way so no panic.

Any Idea on when MPC3 for computer will be available? There was some comment about types of user in this thread. I'm strictly ex Daw (Also ex NI Komplete) user and have never found MPC2 on computer anything but a total dog's breakfast. I loved MPC3 in standalone from day ONE. Only ever used on computer to make a few key groups. Alica's Keys etc. If MPC3 was on Computer it may be a lot more useful to me.

Funny point about Expansions. I bought Maschine mk3 before upgrading Komplete 10 Ultimate to 12 CE, mainly for all the extra expansions. Never used any of them. Used 'Kitconverter' but still don't use then in MPC.
I am interested in the soft synths for Live2 but also wonder if they will be made available to Force.

I did notice in an Andy Mac video that the NI Play instruments were included with Akai MPK mini plus keyboard. I have been contemplating something like this for travel use and given Analogue Cases have a good case it would be a no brainer if they are included in stand alone form. Is this the case or are they only in plug in format?

One thing that IS good to see though is that they are available for trial period as direct download in Live 2.

Just a friendly reminder all NI libraries/plugins are available in full for the MPC in controller mode. No extra charge.

Analog Dreams is free, but the rest currently sell for $49 USD each. So, unless you grabbed them on a prior giveaway or sale...

The MPK keyboards will come with a version of Komplete Select 15, which is for desktop use running Kontakt Player & Komplete Kontrol :

Thanks MoodyB. As Kid Kietel pointed out if you already own the plugins they work in controller mode. Just hope MPC3 is available soon in Controller mode. I have just been playing around with the new Keygroup edit functions in standalone with a key group I made ages ago from Alicia's Keys. There is plenty there to hurt my brain for a while. My poor DAW warped brain never could cope with MPC2 in controller mode though. I really feel MPC3 may open that5 up to me once it'd released.

I switch back and forth between controller mode and standalone all the time. I think the key is to use it as much as possible with the hardware, reach for the mouse when it's easier, then it doesn't break the way you want to work etc.

There are always discussions whether the Akai or Air plugins are good enough. So do you think, besides better reverbs, you would consider buying 3rd party FX for the MPC.

I've picked some FX sold by NI I thought that might run on MPC hardware.

Supercharger GT (compressor)
Vintage Compressors:
    VC 76 (FET)
    VC 2A (opto)
    VC 160 (VCA)
Solid Bus Compressor (the "glue compressors" of Solid Mix Series)
Transient Master
Driver (distortion)
Effect Series - Crush Pack:
    Dirt (distortion)
    Bite (bit crusher)
Freak (amp mod, ring mod, freq shift)
Replika XT (delay)

Nothing completely new, but twists and different flavours.

I'm sure some of those are coming with expansion from NI..
