Another great use of the Korg Replay is that Im now able to Midi map it to Serato Studio. Serato added the ability to Midi map external devices as of the latest 2.3 release.

Some questions:
How many samples can I load into it?
Is it able to handle, let's say, 8 long samples, each one with its own fx?
And can I play a project with those 8 long samples, switching them on and off (like track mute on Mpc), making a sort of live arrangement?
Can those samples be tweaked, stretched, manipulated live?
How much storage does it have?
Thanks.

BTW it's now 750€ at Thomann.
Anyone has experience with it as a multiple long samples tweaker/mangler/player?

You have 16 pads × 8 banks. Yes you can play long samples up to 30min. You can also mute. You can have an effect that will only effect a group of pads that you select. Or you can resample the fx to a pad. Direct from Korg...

Sets can be recorded for up to 100 minutes of 48kHz/16-bit audio. Storage is 32GB micro SD. Samples stream from the micro SD.

@ Chino

Yes I am reading the manual.
Apparently there is just a big omission, which is the sequencer. Do I have to trigger all samples manually every time?
Can each sample have its own effect, indipendent from the others?

Sorry for all those questions, I need to understand if it fits with my workflow.
Why do I only read negative reviews?
I had the classic Kaoss Pad and it was so good.

Thanks for answering.

You would need to trigger samples manually but you can loop a long sample (if that helps). I agree that a sequencer would be nice! The only way (that I know of) for each sample to have its own effect is if you re-sample it that way. The negative reviews are due to the price, expectations & it being compared to a MPC. Korg messed up on marketing/promoting by sending it to synth/beat maker YouTubers who expected a MPC type workflow. It should of been sent to DJs who do remixes & mashups & want to perform their tracks LIVE. This is what the Replay excells at.

The Korg Replay is NOT an MPC & that is why I bought it. The workflow is dead simple. I have not experienced any freezes, crashes and/or bugs(unlike MPC 3.0). Look at the Korg Replay as a more portable/ inexpensive Pioneer DJS 1000 sampler without a sequencer. The build quality is heavy duty with an all metal casing. It also plays 16 samples times 8 banks where the Pioneer DJS-1000 sampler can only play 16 samples at once. Let me know if you have any other questions.

Btw, I've recently seen the Korg Replay listed on Ebay direct from Japan for around $600 with FREE shipping which is a GREAT deal! There is an additional coupon bringing down the cost to $540.41 !!

Thanks so much, very appreciated.
Yes actually what I need is a sample player with good fx, I am working with long samples, some rythmic some not, sort of live arrangement of soundscapes.
Can the sample also be tweaked on Replay in real time, like stretched, reversed, sliced, without artifacts?
My idea is to PLAY the sample, something I am a bit missing on Mpc.
And if I understood correctly, on Replay you can apply an effect only to the output, right? I mean, if 8 samples are playing, the effect applies to all of them or there is a way to just apply it to one sample?
And can I save a sample on the project with an effect automatically assigned to it or the only way is resample?

There are work arounds for getting an FX to apply to just one sample. You can (for example) play a sampled acapella track and SOLO it so that the FX only applies to that track. You can also group samples between fader A & Fader B. You can have some reverb & delay that only affects samples(pads) in the fader group A when you bring up the fader or say have kick on loop repeat on Fader B. Yes, you can reverse, mute, solo, vary-pitch, time stretch and add FX all in real time. Adding CUE points is very similar to slicing up a sample. There are 12 slots or CUE points available per sample. The time stretching is decent but it won't win any awards and there is some artifacts depending on how extreme the sample is stretched. There is sync & quantize to help keep the samples in time with each other. In order to have an effect(s) just on one sample, you would need to resample.

I forgot to mentioned that it IS possible to save 12 of your favorite effects & recall them anytime by storing them on the 12 CUE banks.

Yes, after reading the manual and your review, I start to understand that this Replay is a sort of mashing up machine and I understand why you said it can appeal to DJ more then beatmakers.
There are some limitations for my workflow:
1 The lack of a sequencer
2 It's impossible to have a different effect for any single sample (beside resampling it)
3 No way to trigger, for example, 8 samples simultaneously at no volume and then fade in each of them (as I do with MPC and qlinks)

I think that Replay could work together with MpC for me, not replacing it.
It's appealing as a mangling machine to trigger long samples out of a sequence (something MPC cannot do, if you want a Sample to repeat, it must be inside a sequence length), and play with that sample using the gorgeous XY kaoss pad effects.
I used to love the KaossPad grains effects, and it is exactly what I also miss on MPC.

The problem is that it seems quite uncomfortable to make complicated arrangements on this Replay, I mean, it seems it works good having few samples and separating them with groups.

So it would really make sense as a companion of MPC for me.
I am really considering that, price is going down, it starts to be affordable.
