Overdubbing Option "Re-write" possible with MPC 3

Hi,

Due to the fact that i am not a professional keyboarder, i often realize that after hitting the record option for a part of my track, the first 5-10 "loop rounds" are not played very well, but after a certain time, i find my groove and it gets better.

Therefore my question:
Is it possible to record a loop, but instead of "adding" the notes to the new loop round, to re-write the just played loop completely?
The reason is, that i could play as long as i want and if i would be satisfied with the played part, i could quickly hit the stop button; so i would have the "perfect" played loop. I saw this option in a DAW software during recording some vocals. So the singer could sing endless loops and every time the loop started again, the vocals were recorded by re-writing completely the old loop. So, Is there any optionto do this with my MPC Key 61?

I don't believe it is possible, overdub is always evoked upon looping.

Possible workaround would be to turn off seqeunce loop (so sequence stays in REC mode).
Then on your drum track (track 1) in MAIN, change LENGTH from SEQ to, say, 2 bars.
Hit REC + PLAY START and start recording on track 2. The drums will continue looping while you just keep on recording until you you are happy (let's say, bars 7-8 are the ones you want)
Press STOP and edit track 2 to places events from bars 7-8 at bar 1. Set seq length to 2 and hit top pencil (SEQ EDIT) > trim

Or use retrospective record - you can leave the sequence in loop, just press play start and keep playing and once happy hit STOP and then SHIFT & RECORD. I believe this will extend the hidden part of your sequence and place all your played events within that - temporarily extend sequence length to reveal, edit and trim seq down again. Be aware that retro record doesn't honour timing correct settings, everything is recorded 'as played'.
