jamos wrote:What are you trying to do here?

I'm trying to send a program change from an external sequencer, through the MPC, into an external synth, because the MPC currently doesn't have a way to change these on the fly like previous MPCs did.

jamos wrote:It sounds like you want the MPC to send those program changes each time a track is selected.

Not necessarily, but in this example, yes. I'm trying to underscore how the MPC refuses to pass program changes along. Here's the dilemma in even simpler terms - If track one has a MIDI program titled Bass set with a program change of 12 and track two has a MIDI program titled Lead set with a program change of 32, the Bass track will play the Lead patch if the Lead was the last sound played via an external device. I expect the Lead to play the Lead and the Bass to play the Bass.

jamos wrote:...it would wreak havoc in most MIDI setups.

How so? The MPC basically does this already by re-sending the program change when pressing start, internally. The issue is that the MPC walls off the program changes when coming in from an external source, despite what the settings say.

jamos wrote:It also sounds like you're trying to do too much with a single program change.

Nah. Just trying to change the program from an external device when sent into the MPC.

jamos wrote:You want to select the track, and send another program change?

Again, only in example two to highlight how the setting essentially means nothing when using external gear. Not necessarily in practice.

jamos wrote:Instead of that, why not just change channels on your controller?

Because I'm trying to change patches on external gear through the MPC, not necessarily channels on the MPC. I can change channels on the MPC just fine as explained in my initial post. Program changes are not passed through. Try it.

It seems you're zeroing in on example two when that was just an auxiliary case of example one, which explains the root issue.

MPC Key 37 version 3.4.1

I still can’t connect to splice since updating to 3.4.1. Every time I navigate to Splice in preferences, I just get stuck on that “Attemping to connect to network screen” and “Splice download directory cannot be found” every time I turn on my MPC or start a new project

Keygroup xl global lfos behave weird when programmed a chord sequence.

8 bar syncd sine wave global lfo routed to filter cutoff
when just playing the chords over the pad it works normal, when programmed in the global lfo is weirdly cut to sequence lenght.

Main Screen Soloing a track

when you solo a track in main mode and then swap tracks with the main encoder usually the solo follows to the track you are/go to. Sometimes while changing tracks with the main encoder the mute button will have a short animation and unsolo the track

Not sure if this is related, but maybe can help:
I had to revert to to v2.15.1 on my X, and since then, I've been getting that "Splice download directory (…)" message, every time I load a project. The really interesting thing is that I don't even have a Splice account, so I have never used that feature.

Also, the reason I had to revert the OS was because I was having those same issues with the InMusic account login screen not being able to connect to the server, rendering the plug-ins useless, after I tried to log out/in of the account to check if this solved the issue with the plug-in re-auth at every boot. I'm an IT guy, I made sure the device had network connectivity, I tried in 3 different WiFi networks, and via cable. I think the issue is not with Splice, but with something else on the OS. I can't know for sure, but it looks to me that, maybe, some permission sets may got lost/broken on the update.

With the downgrade I solved the plug-in auth issue, but then the Splice error appeared.

I hope it helps.

PD: Is there a way to get a damn console on this things? I would love to dig some of the logs of the OS.

For me I have multiple tracks that have "solo automation" enabled at the same time. But it seems that the MPC is struggling and lost the capability to solo those track simultaneously. It quickly jumps between those track to solo them and you can hear that ass well. It will solo one track and mute the others that are suppoed to be solo-ed ass well. And the weird thing is that it also visually jumps between those tracks when I'm in the home screen.

Rename a sample with the same name as existing sample - MPC deletes original sample

1. Load sample to pool called ‘Break 001’
2. Load sample to pool called ‘Break 002’
3. In sample edit, select ‘Break 002’ and rename it to ‘Break 001’

Expected:
MPC does not allow me to call it Break 001, and instead auto names it to something else (e.g. Break 0011 or even keeps it as Break 002)

Actual:
Sample is renamed Break 001 and replaces the original Break 001. That original Break 001 sample seems to have been completely deleted.

I had my first proper crash on my new mpc x se last night, I tapped the > event button (above the overdub key), audio stopped and the playhead continuously moved right, all buttons where disabled. I couldnt do anything. I realised i hadnt saved the track & luckily some of the touch interface was working. I managed to save the track, it took forever and eventually crashed while saving songs. I held the power button down when it completely froze until it powered down. Started it straight back up and the song had saved. I get random weirdness with track lengths being ignored and I hope the next update irons these things out.

I remembered another way of deleting samples, and this one doesn't jump you to the top of the list each time. Go to [BROWSER] > SAMPLE ASSIGN. All samples in memory are listed on the left hand side, tap to audition, press and hold to delete a sample; nice and quick as there's no need to confirm (unlike in sample edit). The bonus is that you keep your position in the list after deleting, and of course here you can also immediately assign samples to the pads (and to specific layers while holding down SHIFT).

Martin Juan wrote:A different thing I would like to ad that is not a bug, is that when working in sample edit and a sample is deleted, it automatically takes you to the start of the sample list, so if I have a lot of samples and I want to delete 10 at the end of the list I have to scroll 10 times from the beggining to the end, instead of staying where one is located in the list and continue deleting or working.

"sample not found"

Live mk1 -after update to 3.4.1 keep experiencing the following:

- chop new sample and convert to drum program
- in track view, save new drum program on external hard drive
- hit some midi events into track
- save project and open another project
- when returning to the project i saved the new sample/drum program/track in, get the error message
"Sample not found" with options "Cancel" or "Resolve" -> "resolve" will open project
- new track still there, including midi events
- but new sample/drum program not embedded/connected
- when reimporting the drum program from external hard drive, the track is renamed to {previous name}-1
- from there on, sample/drum program/track work fine BUT still a tedious workflow experience, esp when returning to new samples after a, let's say, infused weekend chopping spree.

Anyone else experiencing this?

You can also go to the Project menu & in there you can: delete, rename & stream samples. It also let's you sort between samples in the RAM & in the ones streaming to disks. I keep Project at the top of the quick pull out menu on the left side of screen.

Yes I mentioned that before but that also suffers from the issue he was concerned with, as when you delete a sample in the project screen you are still taken back to the beginning of the list rather than keeping your current position, so it’s still a ball ache when you are deleting samples towards the end of a huge list

My bad. it's doesn't work like that on the Force. When you delete a sample it goes to the next in line. I hope they change that in the next update.

I find the shutdown or new project wait time seems to be tied to the amount of audio in the project. Tracks with mostly MIDI data, plugins and smaller samples load and exit faster than projects with long multi track recordings. MPC Key37.
