Hi, apologies if this was already answered, but i couldn't find the thread.

I am on the mpc live on version 2.15.1.

I have sounds allocated to Bank A and I recorded a sequence to a track. If i then mute the track, when I play the pads in bank A (or any bank), no sound is playing. I have to unmute the track first to hear the samples playback from the bank.

I am pretty sure it previously didnt work like this (at least on 2.11). I should be able to have the track muted, but playback the pad sounds over my sequence.

Any idea why this is happening. Apologies if this is something simple, but i tried everything and couldnt figure it out.

Thanks

Yea...You may have to implement the PAD MUTE Page instead of Track Muting

Muted track = muted at all times, and yes I believe it did not work like this in much older versions. It's still the same limitation with MPC3.4 as well, but even worse as the kit/instrument is now absorbed by the track so you can't even assign the kit to a different unmuted track (you have to duplicate instead). Rather than track mutes you could erase events instead, or use pad mutes.

Thanks @mpc-tutor, @40Beatz

Is there anyway to to update the software back to an older version (say from 2.15 back to 2.11).?

The problem with pad mute, is that I still want to use some of those pads in playing a new sequence, when the track is muted. I guess the easiest thing to do is just mute the track, then start a new track with same program, then try variations there.

Seems absurd they would do this. I am not too keen to move to 3.4 ..seems like learning a whole new system.

Thanks

The MPC1K/2500 let you play the pads of a muted track. Now on the current MPCs & Force this isn't possible, so you'll have to make a copy of the muted track.

They really should make this optional. On the Force it isn't so bad because instead of muting a track you can just select an empty clip keep playing the pads.

Yes. I have a mpc 1000, and its great on that.

The mpc live use to allow this on older software (i'm pretty sure). Didn't know updating would cause that.

Will just use the workaround or downgrade back to 2.11 if that's even possible.

You're welcome. Why is this feature so important that you're willing to give up all the cool features in 2.15 & MPC3? I would just go with the workaround & copy the track.

Explode your multi instrument track, now can you play the other unmuted tracks, same program.

Glad I stumbled across this thread - I've been having the exact same problem with 2.15.
Been using an MPC 1K for years now & got my way of working mastered using that, now I just got the MPC Live & I've been having a difficult time just trying to use it to do what I was doing on the 1K.
Tracks mutes are an important part of my workflow for regular live gigs, & not been able to play any pads when a track mute is on is really screwing with me.
So now I'm interested to learn that this wasn't the case with 2.11 so I'm keen to roll back to that.
Also curious about B Wise's comments about loosing features?
What are the major differences between 2.11 and 2.15?

OK that's a handy tip thanks!

I'm going to roll back to a previous version of the firmware - but having trouble finding out when the track mute problem started - this thread is saying 2.11, but elsewhere I saw someone saying they were having the same issue on 2,8.
Anyone know? I've been googling & trawling through forums for hours trying to pin in down!

You can read the release notes to get a summary of all the added features & bug fixes.

I was just trying to better understand the user workflow to know why it's worth it to them to stay on the older OS & to also see if there a solution we can come with that they never thought about. I never got a response. Oh, well..
