Can MPCX run MPCv1.7.2?

Hi. I have a MPCStudio running on 1.7.2, which I really enjoy.

I bought the MPCX and don’t exactly love it. I was wondering if it originally came with 1.7.2, and can I revert it back to that OS?

I’ve searched everywhere, especially this forum, before posting this and I can’t find anything.

I’d appreciate any insight

MPCX was launched 2017 whilst MPCV1.7.2 Was released 2014 so to answer the first question, no the MPCX didn't ever come with V1.7.2 installed.

Can you roll back? Well, first you got to find a copy of V1.7.2 to install, and that wont be MPCX specific - the earliest available from Akai is V2.7

If you do install V1.7.2 intended for another MPC, will it work? Beyond my knowledge. Cpu wise, it's the same, but will you run into issues with other hardware differences? I don't know.

Try installing V2.7 and see how you get on before diving further back?

V2.? Released with the standalone gear

I’ve since installed v3, and rolled back to v2 and am learning to live it.

I have two third party VSTs that run in 1.7.2 that I’d love to run in the box with V3, but I assume that’s not possible?

The alternative, because I want to use the X as standalone, is to find rack units that can do the same thing?

There are specific plugins built for MPC standalone. Most of them have free trials , you can download them straight to the X to test it out.

VSTs not possible in standalone, but which specific VST plugins are you referring to? Maybe there's a native MPC alternative, or a keygroup based alternative.
