Automation on midi track control another track? MPC3

Hey all,

I read somewhere about someone doing the Ableton “dummy track” type thing where they setup a midi track to send midi CC automation to another track (audio, drum, keygroups, whatever) either by physically connecting the midi out to the midi in with a cable or another method.

That in theory would allow you to create automations on other tracks that you could turn on/off that would control a destination track. Like automation tracks that could unmute when you wanted automation to happen.


Has anyone done this? I tried and am missing some key ingredient. Is there any particular settings you need to configure?

What was the MIDI track settings?
Did you have the receiving track set up to receive MIDI from the MPC?
