MPC error on startup - screen? RAM?

Hi guys I started up my old MPC1000 after a few years stored away in a box under the house... And it worked for a couple of minutes, then started showing lines down the screen, and quickly ended up like this:



Now it only shows this, from start-up. It seems to be registering input from the jog dial & other buttons - there's little movements in the pixels up the top of the screen.

Does anyone have any info that could help me repair this - is it a screen issue, a RAM issue, electrical short somewhere? Any ideas how to troubleshoot to narrow down what it could be? I need to figure out if it's worth fixing to sell second-hand, or whether I just need to bury it in the back yard with a 21-bass-drop salute; his tour of duty ended long ago...

Open up and take out any additional RAM chips and reboot. If that fixes it the RAM is either bad or probably just needs re-seating. Try putting it back in again, see what happens. Also check all the internal connectors, give it an clean etc.
