lol it's been a long time coming. probably one of the better features to beg for. it's a bastard having to reconfig the entire chain to insert something to the top of the list.

3.0 added some cute things, but good lord I hate the new track/pad mixer screens.

Finally someone who agrees with me on this. Every time I try to get somewhere with a mix on 3.0 these blasted mixer pages slow me down or just make me give up. It’s like they picked up a design from a completely different machine with completely different architecture and dropped it into the MPC

I had no idea people were not complaining about this, I agree 100% - new mixer is a massive step backwards at least when using the X. Before it was possible to control 16 tracks with q links, now one needs to use touchscreen and it's cumbersome and slow as hell

I’ve been watching this forum like a hawk on the mixer issue and commented more than once on it with no response - particularly the q-links inconsistency. I feel X users were thrown under a bus in favour of the other devices (for which relying on the touchscreen is more baked-in). Most people who mention the mixers seem to love them. Of course many people aspiring to DAW-resemblance will find them a good fit, but they no longer make any sense as they relate to the MPC concept essentially...

For the Mixer, I don't have a problem with the way it is now. When you hold down the "screen Control" button you can choose volume and the first 8 Q-links are assigned to the 8 tracks that are visible in the mixer. Now on the Akai Force when you press shift + right arrow, the mixer screen will jump to the next 8 tracks (track 9 - 16).

I think they forgot to add it for the MPC as well... I do miss that. Holding down the "Main" button and choosing a track doesn't make it to switch either. It does work when you want to switch to submix busses tough. And switching back to tracks you can select the track you want and the screen and Q-links will adapt. But its too much of a workaround.

They should fix it for using "shift + right/left" arrow and holding down the "main" button as well.

my main gripes with the stupidity of the new mixer is that.. now, you can only see 8 tracks at a time instead of 16.

the visual feedback is totally inconsistent because of the ability to swipe left and right. the color scheme is totally wack, it's hard to really glean where you are from a distance.
i was also constantly triggering random values when just trying to swipe left/right (there's only a few narrow bands on the screen where you can swipe without this happening, it's just maddening to use)

the old mixer was great, everything was visually tied to the pad/bank layout and it was never confusing what you were looking at.

i will die on this hill, lol

As with the track/pad mutes and other aspects of the interface, the use of the 4x4 grid made perfect sense for controlling functions in the overall design of the MPC. When I switched to the pad mixer, with the 4x4 q-links on the X I could mix samples so effortlessly, almost with my eyes closed, across a whole bank. Plus the SAMPLE NAMES were on the pads as displayed in the grid mixer. Now I have a bank of faders covering half the bank, with numbers instead of names. How this is an improvement, I don’t know…

When you swipe between tracks in the mixer view you should do so at the top..

I found extremely stupid people waiting years for fixes. You guys are the source of the problem.
Imagine being at Akai HQ and looking at these people complaining so much but still buy an mpc, why should I even bother to listen to them?
A lot of things people ask are part of the old MPC and everything worked well there right? So why not just use an old MPC?
These new MPC never felt connected beetween the software and the hardware, you can clearly tell who design them was so scared to upset old MPC users so we got this halfbaked product.
I don't check this forum often and when I do it's always the same complaints.
I use my MPC for what it is: a sound source away from a pc. It gives me polyphony and better fx for my Octatrack, that's it. If I want a sampler/main brain I would never look at the new MPC. I even gave up sequencing this shit, I just export stem.

What an absurd logic. So by your token, the users are to blame for AKAI introducing bugs or not fixing their product. As if software tools work perfectly. Tell that to the new users who came to the platform without knowing about the bugs. And no, this forum does not represent the complete AKAI user base, and people do not spend their lives on YouTube, so it is perfectly possible for someone to purchase AKAI gear without knowing about a few bugs.

Look, you go and buy a car. You find something that doesn't work. You go to your neighbor and tell him about it, and he says, "It's your fault". You ask, " how do you mean why?" he says, "it is your fault because you purchased it". Luckily, the market does not work like that.

I am looking to find a way to mute you on this forum. Bye.
