Thats a strawman. Nobody is saying they don’t like them because they are too advanced

In fact I’ve been on these boards saying the modern mpcs are the best mpcs ever made.

But in my opinion, 3.0 is not an mpc because it doesn’t function like an mpc. It’s more daw than an mpc. No bitching just stating an opinion

But would you want power steering if it meant it messed with the ECU and the ignition system stopped functioning properly?

We are way off topic now but if we are comparing to cars that's a really bad example. a car from 1970 can be serviced road side or in the feild being that they are purely mechanical other than ignition. now, can anyone service their tesla in the field? can you sevice your fuel injected vehicles fuel system road side? Carbureted you yank the carb bowl, pop the jets out clean em up slap em back in set the float and idle and you're off to the races.

What im saying that is the is a level of utilitarian that is actually a much better position to be in. New doesnt always equate to *quality*. Look at pretty much every car since the late 1970s. fuel injection, unibody, four cyl rots into the ground in moments after purchase.

Not all glitter is gold its ok to question product quality.

Hey everybody,

I will offer a view from my perspective of a new user.
I bought my first ever mpc (one +) just before Christmas 24. I like to make all sorts of music, often experimental but sometimes plain cheese. Not hip hop really. I wanted to get away from working on PC in a DAW as it drains me in a weird way. First I bought an Octatrack, good fun especially performing live but serious limitations, and struggled to finish any project. So I looked further and decided to give Mpc a try, as it looked like something I want - a DAW without a computer. And I love it. It's quite powerful, it samples, it has vsti, timeline, sequencer, automation(this could be greatly improved though)... It ticks a many of my boxes and I don't feel the need to look for something "better'. I am much more productive now and I'm having a lot of fun with it.

I understand some of the changes coming in mpc3 have been frustrating for some folks here who are used to the 'mpc' ways.
From my point of a newcomer - mpc3 is awesome. Sure I could find things that could be implemented better, and I will get to complaining at some point no doubt

THAT MF'N 40beatz!!! always striking my strings. *snarl grump muttering* LOL. This post is pretty loose tbf, basically any thread I make is fair game. You can't go to a public forum make a post then catch feelings about it. I knew when I entered this place and got ran through the gauntlet by you OG folks I was home.

As I've stated in the past I tried to like 3.4 but it just doesn't work for me.

Programs and track mutes are key to how I work. Majority of my old projects are obsolete on the current firmware.

Rolled back long before release and haven't lost any sleep at all about it.

I do totally understand what your saying here, but I for one, came from using Logic exclusively and bought my MPCX because I found that, as a DJ a lot of the music I was buying was made on MPC's. So I took the plunge against many peoples advise.
Ive loved the playability of it but ive never been able to compose, arrange and finish a track within.
V3 has changed the way I see my MPC. I now feel like it's my friend. I live in a remote countryside location and have no friends or colleagues with MPC 3000's or whatever so ive had to try and do this on my own. It's not really been that much fun. I HATE YouTube tutorials and have always needed a friend to guide me, without one. So the new update has really helped me get closer to completing a track within and hopefully catch that magic MPC sound.

No disrespect but there is no “magic mpc sound”. The “magic” was in the workflow. But they went away from that to capture new users like you who want the the “mpc sound”. Its kinda maddening

I don't think it's possible to finish and polish a song in the Mpc to a commercial standard - the plugin suite is a bit limited and automation is very basic and low precision. But I can create a complete structure of a song, do a rough mix and rough automation. Then export stems into the DAW and finalize it there.
Other than that I am ignorant of the Mpc legacy and Mpc sound... To me it's simply a nice tool for experimenting and composition, without any prejudice or expectations.

For me it has been pretty hard to switch, also I lost some important projects too that didn't translate to 3.0 well.. I don't have the patience to go back to every detail and try to figure out why..
I just counted my losses, accept the fact projects and mutes are different now and feel slightly different. Over all though I'm a musician and I can and will adapt, just like with music.. I don't make the same music I made twenty years ago either.
I would not go as far to say it doesn't feel like a MPC anymore though.. tracks being tied to programs and mutes don't make the mpc for me, and honestly everything looks different, but everything is basically the same at the fundamental level. It still feels like a MPC to me, like a way more capable, broad, modem MPC then a DAW to me.. I hate the new mixer too, over all I love the new functions and appreciate how everything is laid out now and feels simpler with less pages.
