I’ve encountered a couple problems. While trying to update from the hardware itself via download, it kept on trying to connect to the PC for no reason, it had never done that before. I had never had it connected to a PC before. I updated via USB and the following happened…

The internal networking of the keyboard hardware stopped functioning. Neither the Ethernet or W9 Fi would work. Ethernet would say disconnected with no checkbox to implement it. Wi-Fi, I would click on, and it would do nothing. None of the Wi-Fi networks would show up. Nothing. If I click away and click back, it would just be off again and the same would happen if I clicked on.

When I reverted back to the latest 2 firmware, networking worked again.

Second issue: the keyboard is not saving any settings in the settings menu for the hardware or when I restart the keyboard, the welcome to MPC comes up and even if I click do not show this again, it shows it every time. As if it’s not saving any preferences. It did just fine before I tried to upgrade. Even reverting back to the two point something firmware, didn’t solve this issue.

I clicked the button to reset back to factory and still no resolve for the saving.

These two things are driving me nuts. I want to be on the 3.41 firmware, and the networking was working just fine with the 3.3 firmware. So I have no clue why it isn’t working with 3.41 and now, I don’t have access to 3.3 firmware anymore, so I can’t revert back to it. Both of these issues are making me crazy. Anybody know any fixes? Anybody else encounter these things? Again it was working fine before I tried to update to 3.41.

Thank you in advance.

My Key61 was v2.15, turned it on one day and “do you wanna update?” came across the screen via wifi. I updated without a problem so I’m not sure what is going on with your install. Maybe try it with a usb download instead.

Yea, did that. Even went back to 2.15, then tried upgrading again. When I went back to 2.15, the Internet works just fine. Go back up to 3.41, and it’s as if the networking disappears. Wi-Fi and ethernet act as if the drivers aren’t there internally in firmware. But are fine in 2.15. I also have the save issue in preferences on the hardware. It will not save my preferences in settings for anything. Regardless of the firmware I’m using.

This all happens when I tried to upgrade to 3.41 the first time. It never upgraded, because it was looking for the computer and when I would click stand alone during the update process, it would act as if it was updating… restart, then it would just loop back to there is a new update 3.41, do you want to download an upgrade now?

I never had that happen before when I upgraded from the unit itself online. not sure why during the first try to upgrade to 3.41, it was looking for the computer. Because I had never at that point had it hooked up to a computer. Though I went online and downloaded the software, in order to use my computer before that. So I don’t know if that had anything to do with it or not. But the keyboard wasn’t hooked up to that computer at the time.

It was on yesterday that I hooked it up to the computer to try to update it that way, and still couldn’t get networking to work. Which works just fine, once again, under 2.15. It’s just a strange thing and I don’t know what’s causing it. Because the keyboard functions just fine otherwise, even under 3.41. It just won’t connect to the Internet and it won’t save settings in the preferences. Which is a pain, because every time I restart the unit… I have to reset the settings I want for the keyboard.

Again, just strange. It doesn’t seem like any or many other people are having this issue. And the keyboard functioned just fine before I tried to upgrade it to 3.41 the first time.

Update on this issue. Talked to tier one Support and they informed me that this has been an issue in the update to 3 and I just happened to be one of the lucky ones to run into these issues. They just told me this about a week ago. So I’ve been going about three months dealing with this and Support never said a word.

They finally admitted that it is an issue they know about in the software, which means their upgrade is responsible for me not being able to use my keyboard for at least three months. So, they said they are working on it and the next update past 3.42, is supposedly going to fix it. If it does not, then they are going to have to replace my keyboard for free. Because they know, and they have admitted that it was the update that caused this issue.

Just ridiculous. I guess the positive, as they gave me a free copy of Jura. Which I liked when I was playing around with the trial. Still, I wouldn’t mind a couple more free pieces of software that I pick for dealing with this. Particularly, I would like them to give me all of the native instruments stuff. Since I haven’t been able to use my keyboard in all this time.

That’s just greedy, and, it’s not theirs to “give away” anyway.

They should give a free plugin for each month the gear was messed up. Maybe not the NI stuff, but 3 months is whole damn season!

Hi OP,

I'm in the same position - can't save any projects, can only see internal memory after updating to 3.4.
It also takes 1.45mins to boot up, shows internal memory total size of 382MB and available memory of 16.5MB. It doesn't recognise any other attached drives (USB or internal SSD).
I can't get into controller mode but I can connect to the Key 61 via USB cable for updating purposes.

Did you get your machine issue resolved, if so, how?

Nice result re Jura, I have it, it is great.

Thank you.

My SE was down for six months trying to find what was wrong with it… super frustrating trying to deal with them between the tiers of support and when they email you and you respond they won’t respond anything for a week or so, so you have to make every response count.. basically the support is terrible and they make it incredibly frustrating.. finally after six months of them not being able to fix my unit they finally sent me a replacement.. but it was a nightmare.. I didn’t get anything free like you though... but after all that I’m still currently rocking a live 3 happily so, they sell so many of these things that they don’t care that much, we obviously put up with the joke that is service..
So I hope you get a working unit and I wouldn’t worry about free stuff..
