1st of all the MPC4000 is a very good midi controller, wide range and interesting (or call it „inspiring“ ) velocity response.
4 separate midi channels with the option to add a 2nd channel for simultaneous output.
I‘m in the fortunate position to have the Adat Expansion (connected to a system with 6 Adat IOs) which mainly acts as a router to/from 4 different DAWs, including fx plugins and the respective monitor signal(s).
The most modern a MacMini M1, the most vintage is Pro Tools 5 TDM on a PowerMac G4.
But my personal favorite is a virtual Adat app, running on the „router“ PC, which simply tracks groups of 8 audio channels, similar to the days of the Alesis BRC.
While the 4000 could as well be the audio centre of the system, imho it‘s just too time consuming to set it up (and operate it) that way.
But it’s a valuable controller and provider for source material.
