Is there no way to make this port discoverable to Ableton Live, for instance, to address the MPC as a sound module, so to speak, via a direct USB connection from the computer to the MPC?

Does this connection only work when addressing the MPC software on the computer (which hasn't been updated to 3.4?)

I'm not finding anything about how to accomplish this in the manual or online anywhere...

thanks!

Using Akai Network MIDI makes it easy to control the MPC from Ableton, but to use it as an audio interface, you have to switch to controller mode.

What I want is for it to show up in ableton as a midi output destination. Is that not possible?

The 'remote' port on your MPC allow you to use Ethernet port as bidirectional MIDI - use that as you would use USB.
