The changing from Program to Track edit is confusing me. I like to chop different loops, like drums, Chop them and build my drum track from those chops. Im used to using 2 programs 1 for the drum 1 bar loop and 1 for the 1 bar drum roll. In sequence 1 the 1 bar loop is on track 1, In sequence 2 the 1 bar drum roll is on track 1. That way I add my effect and other things to track 1 it affected track 1 over both sequences.
The new Track Edit method removes that capability, So I figured it I could convert 1 set of chops into the same track with another set of chops... So I have the 1 bar loop of drums I chopped converted into a track using slices. So when I chop the 1 bar drum roll I have to create another track. My first question, Is there a ways to convert the drum roll chops into the same track previously created for the 1 bar loop chops?
This problem causes me to have up to 15+ tracks at times, When in 2.15 I can accomplish the same technique and average 5 tracks. I've started to experience low memory warnings, something I've never experienced.
I don't think you have to remove the MPC way of doing things, that we've all fell in love with, to add a linear way of doing things. The two can actually co-exist. The way I understand the previous workflow a sequence is the equivalent of a container, each container containing programs and tracks and each container independent from another. Then using song mode we string together those containers(sequences) to create a song.
The new way seems to work as 1 container with each sound being a track that runs the length of the project. This workflow actually removes the MPCs strength, but if you incorporate both workflows, giving the user the choice which work flow they want to work in. keeps the longtime MPC user happy, while satisfying those who enjoy a linear workflow.
The choice is made when switching to adding a new sequence, a popup show asking it you want the new sequence to be independent of the previous sequence, resulting into a blank sequence as with 2.15, this choice will continue to using the 2.15 work flow throughout the project, while choosing to add the new sequence to follow the linear workflow that was introduced in MPC 3.0 and continue that workflow throughout the project. [Add new sequence] I [Add new independent sequence] buttons so its like [3.0 style] I [Classic style]. It can also be a setting in preferences to turn this option on or off and also to choose to keep the MPC in the workflow the user wants the mpc to remain without having to choose when adding a sequence.
I know long post but I thought it was a good idea and doesn't seem complicated to achieve being linear Is just a long sequence with new sequences being duplicates of each other.
