thats fine to progress but dropping features is the problem; what sense did it make for Akai to only have 4/4 time signatures in 3.0 but 2.0 had the option to for multiple time signatures?

the logic behind them making that choice is what is troubling;

3.0 should have all the features of 2.0 plus more; it should not be the case that the older OS has more flexibilbity and customisation options then the so called latest and greatest.

In some areas it seems like Akai are regressing/dumbing down instead of moving forward.

Oh, 2.x is abandoned, they moved on. I'm about as worried as I am my S5000 never getting an update, either, though.

I'm also not ruling out 3.x coming good in the end, but im better off where I am for now.

Maybe because they used most of the Force OS which lacks those features, but for MP3 the lost features seems only temporary. Now they're working on some, like time-sigs at the same time they're upgrading the Force with MPC features that's in private beta currently.

Will Akai finally give the Force more time-sigs & the MPC the clip-matrix to complete the merger so both & all future models can run 1 OS? Hopefully they make it so the MPC could use the APC64 to make up for its lack of buttons/pads or even use the Force that would be insane but both would need the same OS for it to be fluid & flexible.

It makes more business sense to use customers as beta testers (instead of how they did it back in the day via making a new model & hope we like it), which is how they seem to handling the next gen & why I look at MPC3 on this 8 year old gen as them knowing it was gonna be a shit show at first, but you'll still have 2.0 to keep you going. Hopefully they will offer a legacy mode or find a way to used the old program system.

I'm Curious....I wonder what the Percentage of MPC users who use Common Time Signatures(4/4) versus those who use Irregular Time Signatures when making Music?

That may give insight on why Akai is not Prioritizing Time Signature implementation. To play Devil's Advocate...It took Akai 7, 8yrs to add my request...The Ability to Move Tracks/FX Slots! I looked at it as NON Priority. Bcz It didn't hinder me from making Tracks.

probably 51% of mpc users use 4/4; so the majority likely use common TS.

but its still nonesensical that Akai created this issue; due to the fact that irregular TS funtionality was suppoted in 2.0.

Probably an engineering issue.

My theory is that building the new stuff was easier without them. So they had to go in the beta. Later on time ran out and NAMM was coming. So they didn't made it in.

given that Akai had a stable 2.x and presumably a stable MPC Force OS; along with 4 years of development time since Dan Gill first announced the roadmap of merging Force and MPC OS; the MPC 3 software should of arrived in a more polished state.

Akai would not or could not muster the necessary man-power. Or the dev team really screwed it up.

This thread keeps going! lol. There's been lots of good chatter back and forth about things. I guess theres those of us on both sides and those of us in the middle.

I am still not sure what to think and sadly my home has flooded and guess where my studio is?.. Wont be back in that area for a while i surmise.. Ice storm came through ontario, took out the power grid, pumps stopped running and the basement filled up. You guys should have seen me running gear up the stairs... all my tapes, disks, records, computers, music hardware, and my stash of retro-consoles. I was bailing hard until i realised its a lost cause and to jump ship. Very bad week for me, makes me think about the ppl in katrina who lost everything. This aint even close to that..
