Time will tell; its good to keep a sense of humour on these things; people get very riled up, needlessly so.

Everyone should be able to share their ideas/theories without personal attacks imo, cos ultimately we just speculating until Akai does the grand reveal.

The MPC Mini could be released AFTER the MPC LIVE 3...? They May drop the Live 3, followed by the MPC TWO(the One w/battery)....Then the MPC XXL

Devices that have built in mics tend to be the smaller devices; that target the portable/bedroom producers crowd such as the SP404.

So following that logic one would expect this device to be smaller then the current MPC Live and smaller then the MPC One, u straight up lied and said the dimensions of the new device are shown on the FCC website, but then u did a gypsy switch and spoke about the label dimensions.


'Like Cain u r NOT Able' to asses Akai's product devlopment direction, by looking at market trends, and competitors within the beat machine/sampler market place.

The Live 1 was a perfect portable mpc. I toured and traveled with it for years. It’s hands down the best portable mpc ever. Then they had to mess it up with a speaker ugh

But, put a battery in a One and that becomes a perfect portable mpc.

They don’t need a “mini”.

why are people so opposed to the idea of a mini MPC? and what was ur opinion on the MPC500 back in the day?

I agree that MPC Live is a classic; in fact all the current MPC's are from a features perspective.

Live 1 while portable from a working musician/DJ perspective; but not so much for the casual non touring beatmaker perspective.

Live is a bit too clunkly and heavy to be taken on planes, its doable of course, but the weght and dimensions are prohibitive; more so then then say an Albeton Move o KO2.

Akai has a heavy focus on the casual, youtube producer crowd/bedroom producers market in recent years; so it makes sense they seek to target that market with a smaller form factor.

MPC one could of fit the bill had they put a battery in it; but perhaps they avoided doing so to keep the coast clear for a smaller device to fill that ultra portable role.

So by your logic, if a smaller MPC doesn't appear and they stick with the current form factor, or even go bigger - then they are targeting pro-users?

Wait... Perhaps? It's not perhaps - they absolutely eliminated the battery (and some other features) to keep the MPC One cost down. This is no mystery - it's well known. But that's like saying water is wet.

if ur now willing to follow my logic; do u understand that the sp404, KO2 and the Ableton Move are very popular and Akai want to get a piece of that lurative super portable market? do u follow that logic?

Also batteries can be sourced very cheaply; it would not of greatly impacted the MPC one price to add a battery.
