Envelope question

Hi everyone.

Apologies if I don’t explain this very well - I’ll try my best. And thanks in advance!

I’m trying to figure out how to set an envelope (on a drum rack) so I can hold the pad down for different lengths and have the sample play short or long.

I can get it to respond to medium and long length presses - the sample plays while I hold the pad down, then stops when I release it.

However, if I try to jab the pad really quick, the whole sample plays and it seems to ignore the envelope.

Current settings are: note on, no attack, sustain or release, decay max (although I can get the same effect with it turned lower.)

Weird. My s*itty take is that maybe there is a bug when you have the decay at max and sustain at zero.

Set the sustain at max. Sustain controls the volume of the sound for as long as the gate is on (when you press a key/pad).
That will probably do what you want to do since you have note on. Then adjust the release a bit so you can smooth the sample cut off.

Good call but with the sustain at max and the decay reduced I still get the same outcome. There must be something else I’m missing as it doesn’t seem to matter what decay and sustain settings I have, it still behaves the same.

I can't seem to be able to replicate that. I mean it works as expected. Do all pads \ programs behave like this ?

Good idea. Just made another program and that works fine straight away.
Might try just building it again from scratch.

Yep - just rebuilt the basic of it and the envelop is working as expected. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction - I was starting to feel like I was going mad.
