I’ve tried every way to debug this so at this point I’m pretty sure it’s just broken.

Currently, if you record something in the looper and assign it to either a pad or audio track, it cuts off the end of the loop randomly, usually about 3/4’s of the way though.

The only fix is to erase the section, and then add it again from the sample pool.

I know the solution is ‘don’t use the looper, it sucks”, but u really wish it worked. Would be huge for my guitar-based workflow. Anyone else encounter this?

I did report it and akai confirmed that as a bug

Hello.
Another midi bug: tried to record a midi track using Roland Spd Sx Pro. The notes recorded on the akai live2 (mpc 3.4) are roughly 14 semitones lower than those sent. I say roughly because some are not transposed exactly by that amount, which makes the jumble an interesting pack to disentangle.
I know for sure the problem is on Akai: I recorded using the same spdsx kit onto a daw and the notes were fine.
Workarounds?

[quote="MPC-Tutor"]Post up any bugs and feedback for the latest 'release' version of MPC 3, currently v3.4.2. Please report bugs in as much step-by-step detail as possible so they can be easily verified.[/quote

I keep getting unwanted distortion / pops and clicks at the end of my chops. I chop a sample as I have always done in 2.0 and I have noticed that on the end of the last chop there is a crackle noise that was not there when I trimmed the sample ready for chopping.
I have found that most of the time its at the end of the last chop which makes it really annoying trying to work around it. Its happening every time now when I try to make a beat.

Try checking the MPC's MIDI monitor to see if the incoming MIDI is being received correctly. Also, the pad perform on the drum track is not functioning correctly.

Audio Device Error.

Tascam Model 2400 is connected via USB and selected as Audio Deivce with 32 Inputs/Outputs checked
MPC X SE randomly freezes and gives me error code -110
(Specified configuration may not be supported by the device=
Sometimes this leads to error -71

AutoSave was turned ON - turned it OFF and system is stable now for the last 10 minutes...

any ideas?

HI,

Using 3.4.2 (MPC X standalone only). The unit freezes regularly (and forces to manually cut the power and reboot) when using the playhead Qlink..a real vibe killer when recording vocals..
Pretty annoying bug for a piece that is supposed to be the center of the studio

Bye.

Hi there,

There is still a bug with the envelopes on MPC-OS 3.4.2 when using bass-sounds with a long decay (e.g. 808-Kick) .

- Tested on: MPC X SE

When editing the amp-envelope to a shorter decay then the samples length the envelope will add a "hissing" noise and sometimes also pop/cracking sounds when played from midi. The noise will even get stronger when manipulating the curve of the decay phase in the envelope or using filter with lowered cutoff.
This is not an user error as often proclaimed, because the sample will sound fine (no noise etc.) when triggered by the MPC Pads but noise will appear as soon as you use a midi device (in my case a midi-keybord) to trigger the sample-playback or when note-events are played by a sequencer (external or internal sequencer)! You can even make a recording with the MPC Pads. When played the first time (no notes recorded/played for the specific sample yet) the sound is ok .. as soon as the notes are recorded and played back for the first time the noise will appear. I tried every combination of different settings for the 3 envelopes (amp, filter, pitch) and different sample lengths (even with added silence on start/end of the sample and snapping on 0) but the noise still appears. This is clearly a bug and I can't believe that it is still there in 3.4.x!

I will post some of the many other existing bugs here soon, but the envelope bug is by far the most annoying one because it renders the MPC more or less useless for me at the moment (can only use the Drum-Synth which has a "clicking" problems on his own).

Finally I made it. Sorry it took so long but I tried recording only with my cellphone-cam and sound via my monitor-speakers, but that does not worked out because the phones mic could not record the sound proper/clean enough. So I had to make a new setup (with a new mic because my old trashy mic just broke when I plugged it in after a long time just laying around) :( And then afterwards I had to find/ download and use a video-editing-tool to get sound and video in sync etc.

But now its finally done. I tried my best to show how the bug appears and to record the noise. I hope you all can hear it too! I strongly recommend to use headphones!

Apologies for the bad camera, my loud breathing :hmmm: , my bad english and the quality of the video overall (I'm not use to make those descriptive videos)!

All best

Maybe an admin can attach the video-link to my original bug-post?! Thx in advance!

Can you make a short video?

I only have my cell-phone for recording the video and I'm not sure if it's mic can record the added noise on the bass, but I will give it a try later. I'll get back to you when done.

A similar envelope issue has persisted since around version 2.11. When the decay is shortened, a bitcrush-like noise occurs at the end of the sound. It doesn't happen when triggered from the pad, but it does occur when triggered via external MIDI or from a sequence.

IMHO: This thread indeed describes the same problem. I can't believe that this problem seem to exist for years now (the thread is dated to 2022 :hmmm: ) ?! This really frightens me and I'm afraid that AKAI may not care to fix this anytime soon. :( If so, I will return my MPC X SE and demand my money to be paid back (got mine as a birthday gift from my wife in December 2024). In my opinion this is clearly a "game-breaking" defect in the product and I'm totally willing to fight this through! 8)

Being a software developer and IT Project Manager for over 30 years myself, I do wonder what kind testing procedures and quality assurance AKAI has implemented (if any). There are so many bugs even in the latest version of the MPC-OS that I do wonder what features had worked when AKAI first hit the market with the new MPC-OS?!

I'll try to get in touch with AKAI and hope I can file an official bug-ticket and that it will also be processed in time. I'll keep you all updated here.

all best

Ahh .. I forgot to mention that I uploaded a new more louder version of my video regarding the bug to youtube. It can be found here:

They do have many bugs & they seem to fix them based on popularity & unfortunately this one ain't at top. Hopefully it's not as difficult to fix as the MIDI Note off bug that they've been "working on" for years. Now go curse out Akai support for **** up your birthday gift!
