I'm not a sample mangling guy so forgive my stupid question. What can be done with "granular featurres" within a sample editor?

Take a sample, reduce it to grains (very small parts of the sample), rearrange the order of the grains or reverse some of them, stretch them, build patterns of playback and so on.
Slice feature gives something similar.
If you have Reason, check the Grain Synth, it works this way, it's a sort of sample editing but on the fly.

It is already available, in two places!

1. Top left, just under the 'Arrange' tab where is states the current T.C. - tap on that to open timing correct settings

2. Pull down the menu from the top of the screen, tap and hold on the 'Time Correct' icon.

I really wish they could do something like "Subtracks" or "Linked Tracks" with MPC3. Aside from the 1:1 Track order across all sequences, this would effectively make 3.0 have the possibility to act like 2.15 or whatever the last 2 firmware was. I really some of the new features of 3: Audio Tracks lumped in with all other track types, the new Channel Mixer, Repitch Warp algorithm (LOVE this one), disk streaming. There's a whole lot of good. But after weeks I'm really having trouble making tracks, mainly drums, in a fast efficient way, since I made them across multiple tracks in the past. Does anyone feel like this would be wholeheartedly bad? I mean, even if they made it so that you could duplicate a track, and tap a "Link" button so that it shares a Track Edit page...idk I miss Programs, everything else is mostly fine and the UI is pretty great.

I've been asking for something like link tracks for years. On the JJOS you could assign a PC# to each Program & the assign a PC# for each track so they would switch to them when played. Why can't they do something like this?

I never used that on JJOS but I'd love to see it in action. Yea, it seems like that's essentially all it would be, I guess. I just wish the duplicate track feature didn't make a whole new Program (I know, no more Programs but it's getting confusing calling them Tracks). Can someone tell me what the point of this is? I can't downgrade, I rely on disk streaming for backing tracks for live performance, and I gave up on switching to another workstation for live purposes. I use my KMI K-Mix to integrate hardware synths and keyboards and MPC keygroups into the same mixer, while the master audio containing backing tracks plays through the Main Outs of the K-Mix. It's a fantastic system if you're doing one song per sequence, other than the 1:1 track order thing making it frustrating to use with keygroups, as now I have like 13 tracks per song, with tons of unused keygroups, since I only use 1 or two unique keygroups per song in a set.

It's so close. The MPC is such a powerful unit, it's kind of mind boggling, but I feel like they neutered a lot of that power just to appeal to people that are used to making one song in an arrangement view in a DAW. Not my thing, I've used MPCs and hardware sequencers and sampler for 16 years. There are methods that are tried and true. Besides, almost every DAW out there completely destroys the MPCs arranger at this point.

I'm going to put in a request to Akai to do some sort of Track Link feature.

The thread is quite long, so I didn't read everything, but here is one I am irritated with:

Whenever I come back to the Grid Edit screen, the zoom level has been reset to some default, I really do not appreciate the lack of state here.

HOWEVER, in fairness, when this gets fixed, it would be nice to have some way to reset the screen manually. ;)

Oh, and also, again on the Grid Edit screen... the bottom rows for pads when editing, it's too close to the bottom functionality (the velocity pane and the button on it). I'd like to be able to move the grid up more (like some gap below), otherwise I have to zoom in so far that I have to keep zooming in and out too often.

Another gripe here is the transparent/opaque popup informing on activity like deletion of MIDI events. It's in the way; I have to either tap it or wait for its timeout to go away, to get to MIDI events under it. VERY annoying! Give me a way to disable it, PLEASE!!!

I mean, really, I can see the MIDI events right there and that they were deleted, like I asked. I don't need an actual real-time notification informing me that my execution was, as my eyes just witnessed, indeed successful. ;) Like having that character played by Sigourney Weaver in Galaxy Quest built-in to the MPC, "I have one function this ship...". This seems like something from a programmer that doesn't really use the user interface.

(As always, if I missed something, I do apologize, of course.)

AHH... There it is, GREAT! Thank You!

Sorry if this is in here already but if we had proper routing (real side chaining) we could not only do cool stuff like vocoding but I could get by without ever having the need to export to mix elsewhere.

Hello Akai team,

I'm a proud owner of the MPC Key 37 and appreciate the seamless integration between the keybed and pads. However, I’ve encountered a limitation that affects workflow when trying to use pads and keys simultaneously.

Issue:
When I assign a Drum Program to one track and a Plugin or Keygroup to another, playing notes on the keybed causes the Pad Bank (A/B/C/D) to switch automatically—even if the Drum Program is on a separate track, with MIDI Input set to “Off” or filtered to another device.

This behavior makes it difficult to perform live with both instruments simultaneously and breaks the separation between pads and keys, which is essential for live finger-drumming + playing keys.

Request:
Please consider adding an option in a future MPC OS update to disable automatic Pad Bank switching via the keybed, or allow routing separation between internal keybed and pad controller signals.

Thank you for listening, and keep up the great work!

Best regards,
jumbo :worthy:
