Ive tried everything under the sun to get it to work, tried every jumper combo, checked every pin in every drive, I must have pulled the thing apart 5 or 6 times. I bought a PCMCIA card just to see if that would work... nothin

why dont you try the atapi version.

My atapi/IDE cardreader is ordered I hope it will arrive this week. I'll give it a try to install it and will post a step-by-step howto (if the installation worked ).

DJ Dcypher: Does this card drive load up your samples any faster than using an external zip drive? I would like to know because I have a 2KXL just sitting here at the studio which I never use anymore because it's just too damn slow for my standards. The only time I power it up is when I need to load up an old track. If I could get it to load up my kits faster than it did in the past, I would love to make use of it again. Finally installed mine, was using an external PCD-25 but grabbed a PCD-47B on the bay a few months ago. After putting the installation off for so long, finally got around to it.

Now I've got...

0 - 4gb External HD
1 - 4X CD-RW
2 - PCD-47B PCMCIA
3 - PCD-47B Smart Media
4 - PCD-47B CF
5 - External Zip
6 - MPC2kXL
7 - **empty**

It is faster than the external ZIP to me. Saves faster and loads faster, it's not extremely faster than the zip, but you will notice it.

The main reason for this install isn't speed IMO, it's not having to worry about a ZIP crapping out on you.

EXACTLY, in reality the speed thing is such a small issue I don't know why people care. With that said, going from a 2kxl floppy to a card reader IS
something to cheer about.. as 3k calls them, "sloppies" suck..

I installed the drive.. Any special Jumper settings needed? I get the drive to load I can read any file from it but when I write it says "Disk Write Error"

Which PCD? The MPC load/format screen should show a firmware version. let us know which one if the PCD-47.

Strange, I have a PCD-47B Like the one posted in this thread...??

Could it be a Firmware issue? Where can I get the latest Firmware.. www.Microtech.com site is down.

My PC read my PCD-47b as a PCD-45, when I set the scsi id jumpers to only transmit the CF and Smartmedia drives. From memory, there should be one jumper on the left (to set scsi ids to 0,1,2)

My drive was faulty though, I tried everything under the sun, and it does not read any card.

What did you end up doing? Did you try another drive? I have the same problem with a Microtech pcd-47b. Says no scsi device...won't read either slot.

Theres not much I can do. Its just sitting there collecting dust at the moment... Im going to pick up an Atapi Card reader and install that.

I just had my ATAPI installed and it reads fine, but my other devices aren't registering. After it shows the ATAPI config and i try to go to the next SCSI device, it just has the WAIT...... screen forever. I can't access my HD and CDRom drives. I didn't do the install but I gave my computer guy the pics and postings from this site. This ain't cool, I got a lotta stuff on my HD that ain't backed up.

It's not a Microtech drive , but a Synchrotech PCM-CR-ID2IMUL 6-card reader.
