Absolutely. Plus, I believe the FCC filing was in January - it's entirely possible that Akai has decided to cool their jets since then regarding a full-scale product rollout until this tariff bullshit stabilizes and they can more reliably cost out manufacturing & distribution.

Not sure. Would Akai then have decided to sell out of MPC Live II units (after those bs tariffs had been announced)? They would have kept more stock around to cater to the people wanting a battery-powered MPC (or whatever it is that people find attractive in the Live 2)…

Well one good thing is I managed to get a MPC one for a decent price, so it's nice to be try the MPC again though I do have reservations as my last outings with the Live left me non plussed. More to do with being old and being resistant to having to use touch.

Personally I think touch is a blessing for gear like the mpc. It openend up the possibilities to a new level.

I understand, I “was” there, recognized touch capability for what it brought. Completely embraced it as I was able to do previously tedious things easier (2kxl, 4k). We use tablets, phones all the time, touch is not such a stretch on an mpc imo. I’ve used Triton Classic and Extreme for 2 decades so I was already there as well.

The funny is that most of the people that hate on the touch screen, be the the ones to say they like hardware hands-on experience. You don't get more hands-on then a touch screen.

The Force is my first & currently only touch screen device & I thought I wouldn't like it, but after using it, I wouldn't want to go without it. The key is to mentally embrace it. To to resist the touch screen while using the device will only create a unpleasant experience.

The screen & how it integrate into the workflow needs to improved, but not removed. Keep saying you don't like it won't help nor change reality.

its intresting that the Triton had the touch screen way back then; but its only recently that Akai made the touch screen more popular within music instruments.

its funny how certain technology thats out now; alot of it is not even new, for example the KO2 EP-133; there is no reason that device could not have been released back in the early 2000's, cos its technology, features & build is on the same level as the sp303 and the Korg ES-1.

It's not so much about the touch screen itself but its quality. You can see that even Andy Mac has issues with selecting notes in the grid view with it in some official AKAI videos. So this is an undeniable problem, and since there is no real alternative for doing so without the touch screen...

Some workstations without a touch screen will have clever ways to easily select ranges of notes in an time interval, precisely, the MPC makes it either really hard or simply impossible without the touch screen.

I would love some sort of (modifier key)+Qlink shortcut to do that... I'm especially annoyed when I want to select a bunch of notes that extend vertically wider than my current zoom - I have to either clumsily select scroll, or zoom out to try selecting the whole bunch, inevitably overselecting and getting an adjacent note I didn't want, because there was a reason I was zoomed in a bit !

IMO

As somone else already mentioned, there is a ton of space for improvement on the piano roll and the way you select things. I wish Akai could take a page from JJos piano roll where you can hold Copy/ Cut and select notes with the data wheel. It's so much faster.

Screen isn't necessarily the problem but more actions need to be linked to buttons and rotary encoders yes. The JJOS use of the jog wheel is a good example. The finger swiping and picking shenanigans to scroll, select and move things around is just a lousy experience.

I agree with the claim: the touchscreen experience leaves so much to be desired, especially when selecting notes in the piano roll.

That said... Has anyone tried a stylus pen on the MPC screen?
