well...
1. they've certified ACVG already and it seems that they dabbled with that "device" in the firmware already.
here is the switch case which, if you take it at face value is kind of meaningless as it's part of huge (300 long) switch statement from something that (by the look of other switch cases) looks like a desktop app, but given that it match exactly to what was certified already, it shows you that "something" is in the works.

here's more on the certification process that should clarify some stuff a bit. Altough it's not a step by step template of how it should be done, it clearly explains why certification should be done as a last step. If you don't have a whole 8 minutes for some "bullshit video" the just skip to 7:00 and watch for 20 seconds

2. New 3.5 force firmware carry an updated (relative to mpc 3.4) parts of GUI/TUI for CV Pages, those pages are set to work with a device that does have 16 hardware CV OUTS! There's no such device in the current lineup and if there's no new devices coming at some point, why did they bothered to update it to facilitate 16 outs ? especially that this additional CV mode is still disabled ?

3. This one is a stretch but here it is… In the directory with GFX content for the standalone and for the desktop app there's a directory called "USB Input Selection" which contain an icon called… usbaudio.png. Now… You might say that it have something to do with external interfaces or desktop app etc. but as I mentioned at the beginning if you stretch it enough, you might be able to see a controller or device that have 16cv outs with usb audio or at least a device with 8x CV + 8x DC coupled outs and an USB audio similar to overbridge.
It's obviously all what we love the most - speculations lolol but I think that if there's a new device, the only thing that prevents akai from commitment to a release is unstable market and orange man bad despite of MPCs being made in Taiwan afaik.
I suppose that everything can be postponed to early next year but they will have to extend confidentiality on existing documents.
