New stems function, trying to get it done.....

I have bought the stems function for €8,99 yesterday.

I'm trying to get it to work, but there isn't a youtube video on that one yet.

There is a YT video from the MPC, but that is different in workflow than the Force.

So far I splitted samples into stems and imported them on four different audio tracks.

Also found out, it won't work on every track, bussy tracks like rock will not end in good results.

For €8,99 this is an amazing new function, and I'm happy with it.

Hope in an final update it will work like it does in the MPC series.

I found out that if the screensaver is set to an amount of minutes, mine was set to five minutes, it won’t seperate the stems of a song longer than few to 20 seconds.

Switch the screensaver to always on, and you are done!

I have found the way to work with the new stems function now.

First I sample, or if needed more than a minute sample record to clip.
Trim the sample to the desired size start and finish.
Perform the stems function.
Import the seperated stem samples to a clip for each stem.

So far so good.

But.......

The sepration isn't always satisfying. If the music is bussy or there is a lot of reverb, vocal stems won't come out very good. Hey, I won't cry over 9 bucks, but it is not working properly.

I found out that the free Audacity software combined with the Open Vino AI tools do a better and faster job, but you need a PC. Also my music PC, running on an old Intel i7-7700 won't do the trick, won't do it at all due to securety reasons. Proberly the missing chip what prevents it from running Win 11.........

Luckely I have a n other PC with a newer i5 CPU that does the trick, and my plan was anyway to make one new PC from the two excisting PC's. The music PC is in a 19 inch housing, and it's cooling is silent. I'm happy the i5 CPU can be cooled by this fan to.

Anyway, for some songs the Akai Stems software is OK, for some songs not, but as it is now, you better use Audacity with the Open Vino AI tools!!!

OpenVINO stem separation seems to use Demucs v4. Ultimate Vocal Remover has that, but some others as well, and the others are sometimes even better. I think MDX-NET-and-whatever-letters-there-are-in-the-acronym is sometimes better than Demucs for vocalsat least.

I will investigate MDX-NET min the near future, thanx for your reply, it seems that not many here are interested in stem separation.........

Or you could just try using the MPC software to get better results with stems. Controller mode gives you much better results when timestretching as well.

This site has like 5 active Force members & this feature just came out for the Force. I was just asking about it on Gearspace. Out of all the Force sites I be on, this is by far the most dead.

I don't think the MPC software works with the Force as a controller. Or did that change with the Force 3.5 beta?

Forgive my confusion, I completely forgot that you were referring to the Akai Force and not an MPC. 100% my fault!
I hope they throw Force users a bone with regard to software soon.
