It's a shimmer reverb, so different from standard reverbs. It's meant as a special FX reverb, rather than a replacement for reverbs trying to emulate real spaces. It does this by adding pitch modulation into the feedback, so the echos are not the same pitch as the original, and this can be modulated. So it's good for creating big ethereal spaces. Ambient musicians ( :vomit:) love this type.

I've not used it though, so how good it sounds with pitch modulation is turned off compared to the those available in the MPC I don't know.

Got an answer from support, quoting the essential part:

the products in question are indeed compatible exclusively with the 3.5 update. Unfortunately, we have provided incorrect information on our website regarding this compatibility issue. Therefore, if you choose to downgrade, it will not be possible to successfully run the products,

I wonder how many people have not transitioned to 3, and if they have anyway of knowing. I guess if they are selling VSTs but the see them proportionally lower authorizations on V3 than when they worked on both V2 and V3, they'll get some kind of a picture.

Do you mean why release a plugin only for 3.5? Because that's the latest version and they want everyone on the same page. The last thing they want are customers still using older versions, 2.x is history now, they've invested too much in MPC3 to be seen encouraging use of MPC2.

Evolution Bruh lol. People would Complain that the OS is Stagnant if it were to stay on Version 2

Why Push New iPhones, New Cars, New Technology, etc :smh:

what I mean is, that I would expect that the format of the plugins for 2.xx and 3.xx is identical.
After all, all the previous plugins seem to work on 3.x too, and I dont see any reason to change the plugin format for 3.x.
If thats the case, it would not cost them anything to release for both versions.
Thats why I wonder.

I will certainly not upgrade as long as 3.xx is missing features that are essential for me.
So they lost a potential customer.

We already Paid lol They trying to get New Customers. They Gave us the Updates for Free. Well lemme change that...They Paid us with Free Sh*t to be Public Beta Testers
I'm pretty sure Akai will address all Missing Features on 3.xx in time.

What Features are Missing for you?

Akai is trying to Distance themselves from 2.xx
By moonlake Thu Jun 19, 2025 7:30 pm
The two features I would miss most are:
1) time signatures other than 4/4. I hardly ever use 4/4, cant even remember when was the last time I did...

2) a workflow that allows me to work with short "sequences" and switch note tracks on and off between sequences , copy sequences and change plugins associated to note tracks, and send different note tracks to the same instrument ...etc.. - in other words the workflow of 2.x...
By 40Beatz Thu Jun 19, 2025 7:49 pm
When you say NOTE Tracks, do you mean Midi Tracks? I'm able to Copy Sequences and Automate Mutes on Different Sequences. Far as Tracks with Plugins, I can assign Multiple Midi Tracks to the Same Plugin Channel. But I'm limited to how much Tweaking I can Do on that One Channel. So I'll Just Create/Duplicate the Plugin Track on a Different MIDI Channel If I have a lot going on far as controlling that Plugin.

I'm not sure if i'm correct in explaining my scenario to you or not
By moonlake Thu Jun 19, 2025 8:00 pm
yes by note tracks I ment Midi tracks, basically, that can be routed to a drum kit or sample instrument or plugin.
I havent looked into 3. in detail, due to the time signature issue.

So I am not sure if the following is possible:
have a bunch of short multitrack sequences, and chain them to a song, or sequence them live.
And, lets say each sequence only uses 4 tracks, but changes instrument on each track for each new sequence.

For instance, sequence1 track 1: bass, copy sequence, change sequence 2 track 1 to a different instrument, keeping the notes.

What I am not interested in is adding new tracks each time, that only play for a short time each,
like in a classic DAW, to achieve the same thing.
Especially not on a tiny screen like that on the MPC.

Support for most plugins needs to be coded into the firmware, so it would likely require they create a 2.15.2 release, which would of course not align with the current drive to push everyone to mpc3

Though I believe with the new Qubiq structure/library that they've been using for the new ones, don't need a firmware update:

https://web.archive.org/web/20210625101 ... audio.com/

now owned by inMusic
http://www.qubiqaudio.com

looking at my "Synths" folder on my MPC, the ones using Qubiq are:
Ring The Alarm, SubFactory, Multiband Filterbank

But Air Either and Air Sprite don't look like they use Qubiq so would need a firmware update like your indicating.
