I love my SH-4D, picked one up on 'clearance' for half price at the local Guitar Center last November heh. That thing rules if you love the 'Roland' sound.

the device sounds good ; but roland seem to be lagging in developing their user interfaces.

As despite having all the knobs and buttons well laid out in the hardware; the screen menu, and menu diving aspect is somehwat prohibitive.

Yeah, & their screens are wack. Their sample management is a pain in the ass, but their synth sound quality is the shit. They also abandon their products faster than Akai has been. There so much they could add to the MC-101/707 & TR-808/606, but they just gave up even tho both platforms have decent size user bases. I just got a email for new sound pack for the TR, but I & most others don't need more sounds, we need more useful features!

True dat! I haven't ever used the sequencer in it yet, I just use it as a sound module, usually one patch at a time (since its only got stereo analog outs). I am always forgetting where to find shit and HOW to get to the particular menus. There was something I was searching for with the LFO last week and had to go through three or four menus before I found what I was looking for.

I printed up a big batch of the manual when I got it so I can look stuff up when I need to (keep that right next to the manual for the S3000XL haha).

Shit that reminds me, I still haven't tried sampling any of the 808 kicks yet either! Gotta grab those and throw em in the Emu and make some new 808 basses!
