Unfortunately in firmware 3.5 there is no option to save sequences, now there is one set of tools for all sequences and it's just awful. Why did they remove this feature! How can I play an hour long set without having to load a new project for each song?!

Why not load a new project for each song? On 2.13, it takes me 5 to 10 seconds to load a song.

I also have many songs per project and use sequences as parts of each song.

This is so that songs in the MPC can be synced to other gear using program changes to change sequences in time.

I wouldn't mind using one project per song. As long as im able to change projects with program changes.

It is not possible to change projects with program changes, right?

I also searched for an easy way of saving sequences and importing them to another project yesterday...

I couldn't find an easy way. I found the "Save all tracks" option and tried that with Patterns option. But I do not know what I'm doing wrong since I cannot export thing correctly. Not sure if the track must have identical names in the othet project for it to work.

Pretty bummed about it being so cumbersome. Then I basically need to always know which sequences belong to which project beforehand.

Thought it would be easier.

Hello, I play and sing with a 61 key. I'm using version 2.15. My projects are large and I load songs every time. I was thinking (dreaming) about a project pool and the possibility of changing songs with a foot controller. But it was only a dream.

I think AKAI needs to introduce two new levels of organisation here. Shows and Chained Projects, since Songs are a chain of Sequences. Of course saving of Sequences outside a project would be a nice feature. I just started with 3.5 and don't know how to approach a real life musicians work and how to integrate a machine into that, but its curious that all big companies don't put much effort into that part of their product design.
Maybe you can save your "Show" as projects on an USB stick and plug it into the MPC, so no conflicts arise with other shows? The SSD could have all the standard material all shows and projects use and the USB stick only includes projects relevant to that Show?

For Live Performances....You might just have to designate One set of Sequences with however many Tracks...as "One Song". Then so on and so on...in the one Project. Kinda Vunerable but hey...

We have up to 128 Sequences with 128 Midi Tracks to utilize. It'll be Counter-intuitive if you have too many Plugins going with in the Project tho

If program changes would be properly implemented I could make full LPs with 128 Sequences. But since each track only has one PC per project (if not using the bugged list edit) this is not possible if you want to be able to perform it as a live set.

Turntables. The way its been done since the dawn of time. These days theres no need for a cutter or press and test presses.. just sampler > render > digital decks. nobody uses the mpc live like a dj. it just doesnt work out. I am sure people try, but its futile with a single unit. if you really gotta have that i suggest two mpc units and a mixer so if one of your machines takes a crap, and it will -you can cut to a working unit. It's why dj's originally had two turntables in a radio station. you can link them with ableton link so they keep tempo with one another. (you can also do that between mpc and a set of engine dj turntables). You only have half a complete performance rig. No redundancy. One turntable, one beat machine may cut it in the studio but it wont on a stage.

@ Ultros....

Exactly!!! I would definitely not Put My Live Performance's Faith into ONE MPC Machine! I'm not a Live Performer..BUT...If I did attempt to put it together, I would have like THREE MPCs lined up. lol

I think i lucked out, i started out djing in my teenage years and got lined up with a friday saturday night gig at a local establishment for a few years. it was a great experience as an audio fan. we were into analog djing but final scratch came about in that era. Let me tell you what an unreliable piece of garbage that was but when it worked it was amazing. That piece of software literally halted my set a few nights would half to scramble to grab a record fling it on flip the line switch on the mixer. Mistakes arent really a big deal, it lets people know something real is happening. Even right now to this day my mix sets all end with a mistake, once i hit the mistake you'll hear me grab both platters and spin em back to the cues and relaunch em. rather than people being mad they are like "WEEEE!!"

Here is my dream rig. two turntables and a mixer for performance. two mpcs and a mixer for production. much easier to write an entire mix set with two units you can sync up and program in unison. When all done on the production rig, render it and move the set over to the decks.

end of long winded off topic me me me rant.

Thank you for your answers, interesting thoughts, but the main moral is that it is not clear why AKAI removed the ability to have a different set of instruments in one project sequences, now in firmware 3.5 in each subsequent sequences in each added everything from the first and it greatly interferes and clutters. I now want to play live in such a way that one sequences one track, but already on the third track (sequences) I have a third drum rack with samples common instruments.

I found a lot of videos where they show what used to be organized differently. That each sequence could have its own set of instruments independent of the preceding sequence from the same project.

And it's very strange. Why would you take that away? Where should I write to get it back, let there be two approaches, linked and independent sequences by tool sets )))). At least they left the possibility to have a personal BPM in sequences.

Because they are idiots and completely violated the entire workflow of the mpc. anyone who thinks otherwise isnt an MPC user. I am on 2.15 and there it will stay indefinitely. Same with my inmusic brand digital turntables, i wont update those either i have more good in my current set up than they are offering now.

Say you make a track. The you edit that track, remix, make some new parts. Then you have another go, and you have three versions of the same track. A sequence is a section of a song, such as intro, verse, chorus, pre-chorus, bridge (middle 8 ) and outro. You realise Version 2 has the best intro, and the bridge on version 2 is cool, but you like Version 3 overall. So ow you want to import the sequences from Version and and 2 into Version 3.

Is there way to do this in MPC3?
By 40Beatz Mon Jul 14, 2025 2:39 pm
For me....

I would duplicate the Sequence. Change things around to how I like it. And save the project with the added Sequence. I dont necessarily have to use that old Sequence in my track.

Since they removed the save sequence, I would just open the Project with the sequence I would like to have exported, and then "Save As" the whole project. Trim away all the Other sequences from that project, and build on the new Project.

If i'm understanding you guys problem....
