I am new to the MPC world and just purchased an MPC Live II. I was perfectly happy with it, until I noticed the double triggering (and triple and so on sometimes). Seems to be the same on all pads. I have been reading around online and the Threshold and Sensitivity setting make no difference. I was going to take the unit back, until I realized this is a ubiquitous problem. A couple things I have noticed about the issue:
1. It only occurs when I leave my finger resting "lighter" on the pad following a harder hit. If I hit the pad with force (it doesn't matter if the initial force was light or heavy) and leave the finger planted at the same pressure (or harder) as the initial hit it does not occur at all - ever. Moreover, if I use proper playing technique on one-shot samples and lift my finger off the pad after the hit (hard or light), the problem never shows up.
2. Playing plug-in and some key group instruments is an issue. Again,it can be mitigated by perfect technique.
3. Without perfect technique, the double hits are minimized if using on a flat hard surface, but not eliminated altogether.
I did some experiments with the velocity indicator on the preferences page - and what seems to be happening is tiny velocity hits are registering if you lighten your pressure on the pad following any hit.
It would seem to me this could be corrected in software - to ignore those inadvertent hits (like velocity under 10 or something - set a base velocity) - especially when in 16 level mode where it is really noticeable.

It throws off my rhythm. I've definitely had the double triggering issue with midi drum pads and tried all kinds of settings like sensitivity but ultimately I think many drum pads are just built poorly.
