Hello folks.
I'm having the strangest problem with a sequence.

The keyboard controller sends the right notes to MPC One, that in turn sends the right notes via 5din Midi to Behringer K2. All the notes are correct, as evidenced by the piano picture at the left of the grid mode - when I press a key, that particular key gets highlighted in blue. So no problem sending midi notes and getting them played by K2.

BUT when I record my sequence, the notes showing on the grid are completely different. The synth will play the right sounds, so mpc is not changing the notes, simply writing them on the wrong spot on the grid.
Not an expert, but I would think this is a midi mapping problem,.

Worth noting that all of my other projects have the exact same configuration and they have no problem at all - the note displayed on the grid is the note that's supposed to be.

What am I doing wrong? I have a video that shows the problem, but I can't figure out how to upload it here.

Thanks folks,
Pegamin

Are you on Version 2 or 3?

You have one project with the Keyboard > MPC > K2 and the midi is playing right but recording wrong.
But you have other projects with the Keyboard > MPC > K2 and the midi is playing right and recording right. So this is only happening in one project?

Is the K2 Midi Thru connected back to the MPC?

Have you is the midi timing right, but the not value wrong? And if it's the note value, are they wrong in the same way, transposed by the same value, or the same notes transposed to different values? i.e. C3 is D4, but D3 is F6.

Have you just tried playing one repeated note to see what happens to that note?

Version 2.15.1

Yes indeed. In all of my projects, I have the exact same set up: I am controlling two different external synths (moog M32 and Behringer K2) via midi. I use the regular 5 din midi out, and the one midi cable goes into a midi thru box that splits the signal wonderfully to both synths. I have done around 20 different projects with this particular set up, and only one of them will show this weird behavior. The notes that MPC sends out to the synths are the right notes, but the notation is very wrong.

Is the K2 Midi Thru connected back to the MPC?

Through midi thru box from Midi Solutions. Works fine in all of the other projects.

Yes, the timing is right, but the values of the notes wrong.
A sequence that should be noted "B1 - Bb1 - B1 - Ab1" shows as "C2 / Db-2 / C2 / G-1". Wild.

Have you just tried playing one repeated note to see what happens to that note?

Yes, I have just played quarter notes on A2 and recorded them. The notes sound correct (A2) but they are noted as D1. Tempo plays and writes correctly.

I guess I can live with this, since the song plays unaltered. But it stills bothers me so.

Thank you.

Sorry, I'm still not clear on if it's all projects are affected, or all your other projects are fine and just one is affected. IF it's just one, then I think it's got corrupted somehow, and best to dump it. If it's very project, then that's a real headache. With it being 2.15, then I don't see the point in reporting it, they'll just say move to 3.5.

Regards the midi out, I get that you are using a through box, and I don't think that's the issue as the notes are on the sequencer incorrectly named, before hitting the through box. But are any of you synths connected back to the MPC from their Outs or Thrus, is this a loopback issue possibly?

Thank you for your answers.
To clarify, only one of my many projects is affected by this.
None of the synths come back to the MPC. Midi goes out the MPC to the thru box into the synths, and then everything goes to an external mixing board, so it's not a looping problem either.
So I've reached the conclusion that the project has corrupted somehow.
I also agree that Akai will not support this, as this is a rather oldish version.

Thanks again for your answers,
Best,
